A role you will love
This role provides focused corporate legal services support to the Computershare group throughout the EMEA region. Lead by the General Counsel - Corporate, EMEA, the team is responsible for a variety of areas of legal specialisms, including Employment, Litigation, Real Estate, Regulatory, Corporate Governance, Treasury and M&A and is part of the global corporate legal services team. 
 

Key Responsibilities:  
The Legal Counsel - Corporate Services, EMEA is responsible for managing, directing, and providing legal advice relating to Computershare’s corporate activities and governance within the team’s areas of accountability across the EMEA region.

  • Deliver pragmatic, timely, high quality legal advice to non-lawyer colleagues and other lawyers.
  • Integrated working with Business Line lawyers to anticipate and respond to challenges to and opportunities for Computershare’s businesses.
  • Support senior lawyers within the team and in other locations in delivering on the Team’s objectives.
  • Work closely a broad range of stakeholders on M&A transactions.
  • Anticipate, identify, and communicate issues of legal concern.
  • Keep informed of legal and market developments relevant to our businesses and evaluating their impact.
  • Formulate policy to ensure consistent legal and regulatory compliance across Business Lines and legal entities. 
  • Instruct and manage outside counsel.
  • Adhere to the legal governance framework, policies, systems, standards, and procedures in all aspects of your work.
  • Champion and promote integrity and ethical decision-making.
     

What will you bring to the role? 
The Legal Counsel - Corporate Services, EMEA will have demonstrable knowledge in the team’s areas of accountability and be prepared to develop expertise in multiple legal disciplines. 

  • UK qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with a commitment to broad, high quality legal service delivery.
  • Deep familiarity with general English legal principles and procedures.
  • Familiarity with the legal principles and systems of other countries in the EMEA region and in particular the Republic of Ireland and the Channel Islands.
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity
  • Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiation.
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively across a diverse community of people and cultures, adapting style to suit audience.
  • Well organised and able to prioritise and manage competing workload demands.
  • Confident and assertive while remaining approachable.
  • Adaptable and able to take on variety of tasks both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experienced in detailed legal analysis and delivery of advice in the context of broader commercial strategy.
  • Drive to develop expertise in new and wide-ranging areas of law.
