This is a Fixed Term Contract (FTC) role based in our new Soho Place office – opened in 2023 - in the heart of Central London and home to our Research Lab.

The role

We’re looking for a commercially-minded Legal Counsel to join the G-Research Legal team. This is a high-impact role, providing strategic legal support across the business and helping to drive efficient, pragmatic outcomes in a fast-paced, technology-led environment.

Working closely with stakeholders across research, engineering, commercial, operations and leadership, you’ll deliver clear, business-focused legal advice and play a key role in supporting the company’s growth and innovation.

 You'll be part of a collaborative legal function that partners closely with the business to enable decision-making and manage risk effectively.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with a strong grounding in commercial law, with the right mindset to be able to apply those principles in practice to everyday issues.

You will be proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, with a focus on enabling the firm, while protecting legal interests.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Extensive post qualification experience as a solicitor (in the UK or equivalent jurisdiction), including significant technology and commercial contracts experience

  • Strong experience in software procurement, including software licensing, SaaS, AI tools, and transactions involving resellers

  • Familiarity with hardware procurement and a range of commercial agreements, including those for professional services, training, and marketing

  • Solid understanding of intellectual property protection, particularly in a technology-driven environment

  • Working knowledge of data privacy law, including its application to commercial contracts and vendor arrangements

  • Comfortable advising on contracts based on third-party paper, balancing legal risk with business pragmatism

  • Demonstrated expertise in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements

  • Experience working with or implementing legal technology and AI tools, such as contract lifecycle management and AI-assisted document review, would be desirable

  • Excellent academics, to include a minimum 2.1 degree or equivalent
