Role: People Development Partner

Location: Covent Garden, London OR Milton Keynes (United Kingdom)

About the role

We are looking for a People Development Partner to help build the capabilities BSI needs to deliver its current and future business priorities.

Working closely with People Directors, Senior People Business Partners and business leaders, you will develop a strong understanding of the strategy, performance and people challenges within your designated divisions or functions. You will use this insight to identify capability gaps and create targeted development plans that improve individual, team and organisational performance.

The role combines strategic partnering with practical delivery. You will facilitate development interventions, support talent and succession priorities, develop capability frameworks and ensure BSI’s enterprise People Development offer is embedded effectively across the business.

This is an opportunity for an experienced people development professional to influence capability strategy while remaining directly involved in the design and delivery of impactful development solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic People Development partner to People Directors, Senior People Business Partners and business leadership teams.

  • Develop People Development plans aligned to divisional or functional priorities and wider enterprise capability needs.

  • Use business and people data, including engagement, attrition, inclusion and learning utilisation, to identify development priorities.

  • Lead capability gap assessments and development needs analysis across designated business areas.

  • Design and deliver blended development solutions, including workshops, coaching, team development and psychometric interventions, with the flexibility to facilitate sessions during both UK and US business hours.

  • Develop capability frameworks, career maps and practical career development support where required.

  • Support talent and succession activity, identifying development needs and risks across critical roles and talent pipelines.

  • Create accelerated development interventions for critical talent and potential successors.

  • Establish clear measures of success for development activity and evaluate its impact following delivery.

  • Ensure business areas make effective use of BSI’s enterprise People Development offer and development philosophy.

  • Adapt enterprise solutions where appropriate, avoiding unnecessary duplication or bespoke activity.

  • Work with external consultants and suppliers where specialist expertise or additional capacity is required.

  • Share business insight and development trends with the wider People Development team to help shape BSI’s global offer.

  • Lead multiple development projects, ensuring they are delivered effectively, on time and within budget.

What we’re looking for

Essential

  • Significant experience identifying and addressing complex organisational capability and development needs.

  • Experience leading strategic capability discussions with senior business and People stakeholders.

  • Strong experience conducting development needs analysis and translating findings into practical plans.

  • Experience designing and delivering development interventions for individuals, teams and groups.

  • Strong instructional design and learning facilitation capability.

  • Experience using AI tools to design, develop or improve learning solutions.

  • Strong consultancy, stakeholder management and influencing skills.

  • Experience coaching individuals and leaders to support performance, development and career growth.

  • Confidence using data and evidence to inform people development decisions.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage several priorities, deadlines and budgets.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Commercial awareness and a strong internal client focus.

Highly desirable

  • Professional coaching certification or accreditation.

  • Qualification in learning facilitation, coaching or organisational development.

  • Certification in psychometric or development tools such as MBTI, DiSC, Insights Discovery, Strengths Profile or CliftonStrengths.

  • Experience selecting and managing external learning providers or consultants.

  • Experience operating within a complex, global or matrix organisation.

Salary Range:

UK: £51,600–£64,500 per annum.

The advertised salary range reflects the level, scope and responsibilities of the role. Starting salary within that range will be determined based on experience, skills, market considerations and alignment with internal equity principles.
