Lead Design Engineer – Security Systems (Cambridge)

What you will do

Are you an experienced Design Engineer with a strong background in CCTV and Access Controls? We’re looking for a talented professional to lead the design and delivery of cutting-edge security solutions. How you will do it

As a Lead Design Engineer, you will:

  • Design and deliver advanced CCTV and Access Control systems, including new builds and system upgrades.

  • Support sales teams with technical input, conduct site surveys, and participate in system acceptance testing.

  • Produce detailed schematics, parts lists, specifications, schedules, and wiring/equipment layouts.

  • Perform technical calculations (e.g., network bandwidth, power, heat dissipation) and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

  • Collaborate with commissioning engineers and other stakeholders to ensure seamless system setup—whether remotely, in-office, or on-site.

What we look for

  • Proven experience in the Security industry, specifically with CCTV systems and Access Control.

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • IP and analogue CCTV components

    • Access Control systems

    • IP networking, copper, fibre, and wireless communications

    • PC server/client architecture

  • Familiarity with leading VMS and ACS platforms such as C-Cure, Lenel, Genetec, and Synergy.

  • Bonus: Experience with Intruder, BMS systems, and legacy protocols (RS232, RS485).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent communication skills.

  • A flexible, self-motivated approach with the ability to manage multiple projects.
