Role Purpose

We are seeking a Lead Business Analyst to join the World Check One team, part of the Nottingham-based Risk Intelligence Product Engineering organisation.

The role will act as the main liaison between product management, architecture and engineering teams to ensure agile delivery of high-quality solutions for World-Check One—a critical platform for risk intelligence and compliance screening. This is a player-manager role, combining hands-on complex business and technical analysis with line management of a small team of Business Analysts, encouraging capability growth and ensuring methodology improvements across the team.

Key Responsibilities

Business & Technical Analysis

  • Lead end-to-end technical analysis for sophisticated features, including:

    • API specifications and integration requirements.

    • Data modelling, mapping, and transformation logic.

    • System interaction diagrams and interface contracts.

  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to validate technical feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural principles.

  • Run the work intake forum, ensuring new initiatives are assessed, prioritized, and aligned with strategic objectives.

  • Lead early lifecycle activities; including discovery, feasibility analysis, and shaping of epics before they enter delivery.

  • Produce detailed documentation (sequence diagrams, data dictionaries, service interaction flows).

  • Support impact analysis for changes across distributed systems and services.

  • Ensure requirements are traceable to technical design and test cases.

Line Management

  • Lead and mentor the Business Analyst team, providing coaching, feedback, and career development.

  • Allocate BA resources across projects and ensure consistent quality of outcomes.

  • Drive adoption of analysis standards and continuous improvement within the team.

Agile BA Practices & AI Augmentation

  • Drive feature and epic identification and decomposition into user stories, ensuring clarity and alignment with business objectives.

  • Define acceptance criteria and maintain a healthy portfolio backlog in partnership with Product Owners.

  • Explore and implement AI-powered tools to accelerate requirements gathering, documentation, and analysis.

  • Use AI-assisted insights for data validation, impact analysis, and backlog optimization.

  • Champion continuous improvement in Agile analysis and AI Augmentation practices across the department.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure solutions meet regulatory standards and internal governance requirements.

  • Support UAT planning and execution, ensuring traceability from requirements to test cases.

Skills & Experience

  • Essential

    • Demonstrable experience as a Business Analyst in financial services, risk management, or compliance technology.

    • Deep technical analysis skills: API design, data modeling, integration patterns, and system architecture awareness.

    • Experience in line management or team leadership within a BA function.

    • Expertise in Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum/Kanban) and tools (Jira, Confluence).

    • Superb communication, facilitation, and expectation management skills.

  • Desirable

    • Experience with World-Check or similar risk intelligence platforms.

    • Familiarity with cloud-based architectures (AWS, Azure) and microservices.

    • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (FATF, OFAC, EU AML directives).

    • Exposure to AI/ML tools for business analysis.

    • Relevant Business Analysis and/or Agile Qualifications/Accreditations.
