The Role

ALS Wakefield is seeking an enthusiastic Laboratory Analyst (Grade 1) to join our dynamic Organics department. No previous lab experience? No problem — full training will be provided. All we ask is that you bring your curiosity, commitment, and a keen eye for detail.

About the Position
Shift:               Monday to Friday (08:00 – 16:00, with flexi-time available once trained)

Salary:            £25,878

Location:        Ossett, Wakefield

Contract:        12 Month Fixed Term, Full-Time

The day to day

  • Analysing samples using a range of GC, GCMS, and LCMS techniques

  • Recording accurate results in line with quality standards and laboratory procedures

  • Ensuring compliance with UKAS accreditation and internal quality systems

  • Supporting colleagues to meet daily performance targets

  • Participating in the Taste and Odour panel on a rotational basis (following screening)

  • Maintaining a safe and organised work environment

The Essentials

  • A passion for science and a strong willingness to learn

  • 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Science, Maths and English, plus an A-Level (or equivalent) in a Scientific subject

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures accurately

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Basic IT competency

  • A proactive, client-focused attitude
