At Mustard Systems, technology underpins everything we do. From our trading systems and development platforms to the day-to-day tools used by our teams, reliable IT services are essential to keeping the business running smoothly.

We're looking for an IT Support Engineer to provide exceptional technical support across the business. This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for maintaining end-user systems, office infrastructure, and internal services, ensuring our staff can work efficiently and without disruption.

This role is particularly well suited to someone who sees IT Support as the foundation of a longer-term career in systems administration, infrastructure, or platform engineering. You'll gain exposure to a broad range of technologies and business-critical systems, working closely with experienced engineers while developing a deep understanding of how technology supports our operation.

We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, eager to learn, and interested in building long-term expertise rather than simply resolving tickets. As your knowledge and capabilities grow, you'll have opportunities to take on increasingly complex technical responsibilities across our infrastructure and internal systems.

You'll be joining a collaborative IT team that values automation, continuous improvement, and practical solutions. While your primary focus will be supporting users and maintaining operational excellence, you'll also have opportunities to develop skills across infrastructure, systems engineering, and automation as the role evolves.

  • Provide first- and second-line support for staff across the business, resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Manage and maintain Linux and Windows workstations, ensuring systems remain secure, reliable, and up to date.
  • Support and improve office infrastructure, including networking, meeting room technology, printers, and end-user hardware.
  • Assist with user onboarding and offboarding, account management, device provisioning, and access control.
  • Contribute to IT projects that improve reliability, security, automation, and user experience across the business.

We work with an agile and pragmatic approach, focusing on delivering reliable solutions that have a measurable impact. Team members are encouraged to take ownership of their responsibilities while contributing to improvements across the wider technology estate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Exceptional User Support: Provide timely and effective support for hardware, software, operating system, and infrastructure issues across the business.
  • Maintain End-User Systems: Manage Linux and Windows workstations, ensuring devices are secure, compliant, and operating effectively.
  • Manage Office Technology: Support office networking, meeting room equipment, printers, and other business-critical infrastructure.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify recurring issues and opportunities for automation, standardisation, and process improvement.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with developers, traders, and other business functions to ensure technology supports operational requirements.
  • Support IT Operations: Assist with system monitoring, asset management, documentation, and infrastructure maintenance activities.

RequirementsMust-Haves
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across desktop hardware, operating systems, and common business applications.
  • Experience supporting both Linux and Windows environments.
  • Comfortable performing hardware maintenance and upgrades, including replacing storage devices, memory, power supplies, CPUs, and other workstation components.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work on-site five days per week, as the role requires hands-on management of physical office infrastructure and hardware.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours support and on-call rota if required by the business.
Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience administering FreeIPA
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals, including switches, wireless networking, and VPN technologies.
  • Experience with endpoint management and device provisioning tools.
  • Exposure to infrastructure, cloud platforms, automation, or systems engineering.
  • Scripting experience using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.

BenefitsWhy Join Mustard Systems?
  • Office-based role working alongside a highly technical and collaborative team.
  • Work in a fast-moving environment where technology has a direct impact on business performance.
  • Opportunities to develop skills beyond traditional IT support into infrastructure, automation, and systems engineering.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers across multiple technology disciplines.
Comprehensive Benefits Include
  • Competitive salary and significant bonus potential.
  • Enhanced pension match with salary sacrifice option.
  • Health insurance and life assurance.
