Department Description

The Information Technology department is responsible for the implementation, provision and support of all Information and Technology services within the firm.  The department is a business team function that supports and contributes to the objectives of the legal practice.  Members of this department are expected to fit into the firm's culture and be committed to providing a high quality of service to our customers.

Role Overview

The IT Project Manager is responsible for delivering global technology projects within the Information Technology department. They will manage projects throughout all phases of the life cycle ensuring projects meet the business objectives and requirements of stakeholders, are delivered on time and on budget, and meet or exceed expectations for quality and ease of adoption.

The IT Project Manager will be responsible for managing resources and vendors in a matrixed environment, ensuring proper resource allocation to complete projects on time and within budget.

This individual will have frequent communications with all stakeholders, including vendors and end-users to ensure awareness of project status and progress.

Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities

  • Manage multiple, ongoing, and potentially interrelated projects to achieve business goals.

  • Coordinate and prioritise resources across business and technology areas.

  • Organise and manage scope, quality and timeline from project inception to completion.

  • Deliver assigned projects on time and on budget while following the Hogan Lovells IT Project Framework and governance standards.

  • Be responsible for maintaining frequent and direct communication with stakeholders, developing scope and estimates, monitoring and controlling projects, and resolving impediments effectively and efficiently.

  • Work closely with other IT resources and resource managers, business stakeholders, support functions and Project Managers to ensure effective resource planning.

  • Act as the key project contact for the many internal and external customers within Hogan Lovells.

  • Adapt project methodologies and approaches as required; While primary focus will be on legal practice and business services applications, examples of projects include software application implementations, infrastructure build out and security updates.

Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location or services.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training

  • 6+ years of full end-to-end IT project management and delivery experience with waterfall and agile methodologies.

  • Experience working in a law firm environment, or alternately a similar professional service or consulting culture is preferred.

  • Experience with maintaining a detailed schedule of all assigned development and implementation projects and breaking tasks down into manageable work packages to ensure smooth project delivery.

  • Experience with requirements gathering, analysis and mapping to technical solutions.

  • Experience with risk and issue management.

  • Experience with Request for Information / Proposal processes and contract negotiations is preferred.

  • Experience with project budgeting and working effectively within project budgets.

  • Experience managing project change control (scope, requirements).

  • Experience creating, managing and delivering user communication strategies.

  • Experience with the coordination of user acceptance testing.

  • Commercial consulting / client facing experience.

  • Certification in Prince2 and / or PMP preferred.
