Job Description

IT Change Project Manager – Software Development
Contract (Inside IR35) | 9 Months
Location: York (Hybrid – 1 day per week onsite)

We are seeking an experienced IT Change Project Manager to join a dynamic and fast-paced technology environment, working across a diverse IT portfolio. This role will focus on delivering small to medium projects, changes, and workstreams within larger initiatives, primarily within software development and change programmes.

You will own delivery end-to-end – from vision through to outcome realisation – and may also take over projects at any stage, driving them through to successful completion. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive, delivery-focused Project Manager who thrives in complex environments and enjoys working closely with both technical and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead small to medium projects or workstreams within a wider programme or portfolio.
  • Deliver projects using the Change Delivery Framework, ensuring time, cost and quality objectives are met.
  • Ensure non-technical impacts are addressed, including business change, training and service integration.
  • Partner with Project Sponsors to build robust business cases, clearly defining outcomes, benefits and success measures.
  • Translate business objectives into tangible deliverables and measurable benefits.
  • Manage and control project budgets, escalating deviations in a timely manner.
  • Proactively manage risks, issues, actions and decisions, escalating to sponsors or steering committees where required.
  • Manage resources, including third-party suppliers, ensuring capacity and availability challenges are addressed.
  • Continuously assess project outcomes to ensure benefits are realised.
  • Ensure activities are appropriately scoped and delivered with strong attention to detail.
  • Close projects effectively, capturing lessons learned and transitioning into continuous improvement.
  • Coach and support less experienced colleagues in project delivery and change management.
  • Adhere to data protection and security processes at all times.

Qualifications

Skills & Experience

  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects of varying scale and complexity.
  • Strong capability in planning, scheduling and resource management.
  • Highly results-driven, with the energy and resilience to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Gravitas and credibility to influence senior business stakeholders.
  • Strong background in business process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Solid project governance and end-to-end SDLC experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor style to different audiences.
  • Strong relationship management and influencing skills across all levels of an organisation.
  • Awareness of commercial and financial management processes.
