Support end-to-end delivery of Product Control change initiatives for Merchant Services: gather and document requirements, develop operating models, support UAT/testing, maintain control-focused deliverables (reconciliations, substantiation), track risks/issues and project governance, and coordinate stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Technology and the business.
As a Global Payments Project Product Controller within the Product Control team in Bournemouth, you will support the delivery of strategic change initiatives. You will work with stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Technology, and the business to assist in executing a diverse portfolio of Merchant Services projects.
Job responsibilities
- Support end-to-end project/change delivery for Product Control initiatives, partnering with BAU Product Control teams to assist with scope definition, requirements, operating model inputs, implementation activities, UAT/parallel run support, and post-implementation validation.
- Gather, analyse, and document business requirements; support the translation of requirements into functional specifications, process flows, and control considerations.
- Support the development and documentation of target operating models and process flows, ensuring alignment to existing standards and controls.
- Coordinate with the Business, Finance PMO, and Product Control leads to track delivery progress, dependencies, and key milestones across initiatives.
- Contribute to project governance by maintaining RAID logs, tracking risks/issues, and ensuring actions are followed up and escalated where required.
- Support UAT and testing cycles by reviewing test cases and accounting schemas for completeness and accuracy, validating outputs to ensure finance and control requirements are met.
- Maintain alignment to BAU Product Control by supporting control-focused deliverables (e.g. substantiation, reconciliations, reporting validation), particularly during key project milestones and go-live periods.
- Provide support to senior team members on project tasks, analysis, and reporting, while developing Product Control and project delivery expertise.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Understanding of Product Control, accounting, and finance control concepts (P&L, balance sheet, reconciliations, substantiation).
- Exposure to project delivery, business analysis, or process improvement within a finance or payments environment.
- Basic understanding of finance systems, data flows, and reporting processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to clearly document requirements, processes, and findings.
- Team-oriented mindset with willingness to learn and collaborate across functions.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience or exposure to Finance/Product Control and related control environments.
- Awareness of operating model changes, system implementations, or process enhancements (e.g. reconciliations automation, control standardisation).
- Progress toward a professional finance qualification (CIMA, ACA, ACCA, etc.).
- Experience with SAP GL and financial reporting systems.
