About the department
The Core Infrastructure team is part of abrdn plc, which is one of the UK's largest financial services providers and is listed on the London Stock Exchange. The team’s portfolio has over €2.5 billion assets under management, with the aim to increase that in the coming years. We typically seek to invest equity investments of between €50 million to €150 million per investments. Our key areas of focus are European small / mid-market opportunities across the energy, utilities, transport and digital sectors. We have an active and flexible investment approach and can act as a majority or large minority investor.
About the role
As the Investment Manager you will get the opportunity to work within a rapidly developing segment of the alternatives investment sector, and within abrdn’s Core infrastructure team we are well positioned to capitalise on our expertise and reputation in the market.
Within this role it will provide you with an excellent opportunity to join the infrastructure team and play a key role in helping to develop the strategy and further build the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Playing an active role in the monitoring and valuation of infrastructure investments alongside investment and company management teams
- Assist with the preparation and presentation of regular updates and reporting on development of portfolio investments
- Involvement in the preparation and provision of accurate and timely reporting, including asset valuations, to investors
- Carrying out portfolio data analysis and financial modelling
- Conducting relevant macroeconomic, industry, market and other research
- Providing fundraising support and responding to investor requests
- Lead due diligence processes, and preparation of investment recommendation papers for direct infrastructure.
About the candidate requirements
- Significant relevant experience in asset management, investment banking, corporate finance or consultancy with knowledge of the infrastructure sector
- Strong financial modelling experience
- Experienced in M&A or financing processes
- Highly analytical with experience of conducting financial analysis
- Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to work in a team
- Ability to develop a network of industry contacts
- A degree in a numerate subject such as economics, accounting, engineering or other such discipline
- A second (European) language is preferred but not essential
