Introducing the Trainline Partner Solutions Team 👋

Trainline Partner Solutions (TPS) powers the technology behind our white label retailing product for Trainline Operating Companies, as well as our Digital Pay as You Go product. As Senior Engineering Manager, IT Solutions, you'll lead multiple engineering teams across this domain, reporting into the Head of Engineering, and play a key role in shaping the technical direction that underpins these products.

You'll take ownership of OKR delivery, technical health, and a cohesive technical vision across the IT Solutions domain, while partnering closely with Product, Data, and Commercial teams to keep technical delivery aligned with business goals. This is a role suited to someone with experience in a B2B environment, comfortable managing complex systems and dependencies, and skilled at building high-performing teams that consistently deliver against ambitious commercial goals.

In this role as the Senior Engineering Manager, IT Solutions, you will...🚄

  • Lead multiple engineering teams, supporting engineers and managers in their growth through coaching, feedback, and performance management

  • Own end-to-end delivery across the white label and DPAYG products, ensuring initiatives are executed effectively and deliver measurable impact

  • Partner closely with Product, Data, and Commercial stakeholders to define roadmaps that align technical delivery with business and revenue outcomes

  • Provide technical leadership across the IT Solutions domain, bringing clarity to system interactions, APIs, and data flows without needing to be deeply hands-on in the code

  • Drive alignment across cross-team dependencies, ensuring prioritisation and execution are coordinated and transparent

  • Champion engineering best practices that promote high-quality, scalable, and resilient systems

  • Drive operational excellence, ensuring strong technical health, monitoring, and incident management across all teams

We'd love to hear from you if you have...🔍

  • Significant experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex, multi-team initiatives in a B2B or platform environment

  • A strong track record of building and developing high-performing teams, and growing future leaders

  • Confidence operating across technical, product, and commercial domains to deliver business impact

  • The ability to bring clarity and direction in fast-moving or ambiguous environments

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels

  • Experience working with distributed systems or microservices architectures

  • Ideally, experience managing managers or leading multiple teams

  • It would also be helpful if you have an understanding of the UK rail industry, or experience with travel distribution platforms or white label B2B products
