Core Banking Platform
finova’s Core Banking Platform includes the UK market-leading cloud-based originations software and integrated in-life servicing software. The platform is designed for fast implementation and facilitates day-to-day banking operations. About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled Interim Financial Controller to support our finance function during a critical transition period. This role requires an individual with extensive experience in financial control, reporting, and process optimization within a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a strong understanding of IFRS, UK tax regulations, and SME finance operations.
Finova is currently implementing Netsuite. The successful candidate will play a critical part in supporting the transition towards Netsuite by supporting the design of best-in-class finance operations processes and building expertise within the existing finance team to own these going forward.
About You:
In terms of your experience, your attitude is everything, but we'd particularly love to see your:
• 10+ years qualified chartered accountant (ACA preferred), of which minimum 5 years PQE working in a fast-paced SME environment
• Strong working knowledge of all accounting and financial control processes.
• Proven experience in change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong understanding of IFRS and UK tax requirements is a must.
• Excellent accounting background, with experience of acquisition accounting, intangible valuations, debt structures, consolidations, foreign currencies, share-based payments, business combinations, and R&D capitalization.
• Understanding of India reporting and tax is desirable.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Experience in the software industry or other technology-driven sectors preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels of the organization.
• High degree of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
What will you be doing?
• Coach the team and execute on optimising best-in-class financial processes and controls.
• Design and implement process improvements, working as an SME to support the implementation of Netsuite.
• Provide support and coaching to the team to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of finance operations (AP, AR, general accounting, cash management, etc.)
• Oversee all financial control activities, e.g., month-end close process, preparation and review of management accounts, comprehensive balance sheet substantiation, with a view to building expertise and experience within the team.
• Ensure the reliability of the financial reporting (internal and external reporting), including maintaining efficient accounting and reporting systems and procedures for internal and external reporting
• Review and analyse trends, including:
o Analysing expenses and revenues to identify opportunities to improve performance
o Reviewing actuals against budget / forecast on a monthly basis and ensure proper resolution of major variances
• Ensure statutory tax reporting and compliance is completed on time and accurately.
