The Role

We are seeking an experienced Level 3 Infrastructure DevOps & Cloud Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring deep and broad expertise across Microsoft technologies and cloud platforms, with a strong emphasis on Azure. This role requires excellent communication skills and a solid background in Windows Server Administration, as it includes providing tier 3 support for on‑premise infrastructure.

Our environment supports office from London to Tokyo. As such, flexibility to participate in out of hours work and occasional UK and International travel for project delivery may be required.

The Team

The Infrastructure DevOps & Cloud Team is a core part of Norton Rose Fulbright’s IT Technology Service organisation provisioning services within EMEAPAC (Europe, Middle East, and Asia Pacific).

We operate 24x7 through our Operations Centre and directly manage EMEA cloud platforms, in addition to architecting and delivering new technical solutions. Our services leverage highly skilled internal team based across our Newcastle Office and London Head Office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and support cloud and infrastructure solutions across Azure and on-premise environments.
  • Provide Tier 3 technical support for Windows Server and related infrastructure.
  • Participate in the design, delivery, and documentation of new cloud and hybrid solutions.
  • Work within established ITIL and Change Management frameworks.
  • Collaborate with other IT Teams and project teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
  • Produce high quality technical documentation and maintain configuration standards.
  • Contribute to automation, monitoring, and IaC based deployment practices.

Key Skills and Experience

Microsoft Azure

  • Virtual networking (VNets, vWAN, ExpressRoute, Private Links, Checkpoints)
  • Compute (VMs, Availability Sets, Azure Site Recovery)
  • Operating Systems (Microsoft Windows, Ubuntu Linux)
  • Security (CIS Benchmarking, Key Vault, Azure AD, MFA, Defender for Cloud)

Azure Networking

  • Azure Load Balancer, Application Gateway (WAF).
  • Private DNS, DNS design, split-horizon, conditional forwarders.
  • NSGs/ASGs, User-Defined Routes (UDR), BGP fundamentals.

Cloud Architecture & Governance

  • Azure Well-Architected Framework familiarity (cost, reliability, performance, ops excellence, security).
  • Landing zones / Azure CAF, management groups, RBAC, Azure Policy, Blueprints (governance at scale).
  • Understanding of FinOps principles.

Backup, DR & Migration

  • Azure Backup, Recovery Services Vault, policy-based backups, restore testing.
  • Azure Site Recovery (ASR), DR runbooks and RPO/RTO planning.
  • Azure Migrate exposure for discovery/assessment/landing.

On‑Premise Infrastructure

  • VMware, Hyper‑V
  • Windows Server 2016+
  • Active Directory & Group Policy
  • HPE Server Infrastructure
  • Strong troubleshooting capability across OS, infrastructure, and platform layers

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

  • Terraform
  • Scripting in PowerShell and/or Bash

Monitoring & Observability

  • ScienceLogic SL1
  • Azure Monitoring tools

Process & Change Control

  • Working knowledge of ITIL methodologies
  • Experience using ServiceNow
  • Strong technical documentation skills

Repositories / DevOps

  • Azure DevOps
