A Day in the LifeRole Purpose
Africa Indirect Business Leader is accountable for rebalancing and scaling the Africa indirect business by closing critical coverage gaps, strengthening in‑market presence, and enabling disciplined execution in tender‑driven, pricing‑sensitive environments.
The role shifts the region to a sustainable, growth‑ready platform, ensuring the organization is structured, skilled, and governed to capture significant North and Central Africa growth opportunities.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
1. Regional Growth & Market Expansion
- Own delivery of revenue growth, market share, and portfolio expansion across Africa.
- Balance growth ambition with risk management in geographically dispersed markets.
2. Indirect Channel & Tender Excellence
- Build a strong local presence in markets where tendering, pricing, and access require proximity.
- Drive best‑in‑class tender planning, execution, and post‑tender performance management.
- Ensure pricing discipline and portfolio prioritization across distributors.
- Elevate distributor capability through structured engagement and governance.
3. Organization Design & Capability Build
- Lead a therapy‑focused structure.
- Deploy and develop leaders and reps aligned to market needs and growth priorities.
- Ensure training completion, capability uplift, and readiness tracking via Enact.
4. Operating Model & Governance
- Implement and embed a consistent Africa indirect operating mechanism, inluding Distributor reviews; KOL strategy; Portfolio mix management; Marketing activation
- Partner closely with Marketing, Finance, and HR to support sustainable scale.
5. Leadership & Change Management
- Act as the senior commercial leader for Emerging Africa, setting direction and standards.
- Lead through complexity, cultural diversity, and varying market maturity.
- Build a strong leadership bench and succession pipeline for the region.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- 12+ years of senior commercial leadership in emerging or developing markets.
- Proven experience in Africa or similarly complex regions strongly preferred.
- Strong exposure to tender‑driven healthcare markets.
- Indirect / distributor model expertise essential.
- Strong operator with a hands‑on execution mindset.
- Able to balance growth, compliance, and risk in complex environments.
- High cultural intelligence and resilience.
- Credible leader who can drive performance through clarity and discipline.
