About Camden

Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Because we're not just home to the UK's fast-growing economy. We're home to the most important conversations happening today. And we're making radical social change a reality so that nobody gets left behind.

What You’ll Be Doing / How You’ll Be Involved

As an Income Management Officer, you will hold a key technical role at the heart of our financial operations, responsible for the accurate management and reconciliation of all Council income received—handling transactions valued at approximately £950 million per year.

This role perfectly combines high-level financial investigation with essential, day-to-day operations, where you will take the lead on managing main and specialist suspense accounts and resolving unallocated income items. You will act as the main point of contact for income queries, prepare regular reports for Heads of Finance, and manage cash-handling processes, including security collection schedules. While handling a high volume of work and ensuring strict compliance with financial regulations (like PCIDSS) can be challenging, your work is critical to maximising income and maintaining robust financial records for the Borough.

This role also requires some lifting.

This role is office based. A minimum 3 days a week in the office and more when required.

All About You

We are looking for someone with detailed knowledge of income management, bank reconciliations, and suspense account management. You possess the analytical ability to review financial transactions, investigate discrepancies, and resolve complex queries with minimal supervision.

You are highly organised, able to meet strict deadlines for reconciliations and year-end reporting, and comfortable explaining complex financial issues simply to both technical teams and non-finance staff. Ideally, you have a positive approach to change, a track record of implementing process improvements, and are comfortable supporting or guiding graduates and apprentices within the team.

The application process:

Complete a short application via our job portal – please ensure you also answer the below questions and include in your supporting statement at the top. If you do not answer these questions your application will not be considered. We want to give everyone the same chance to showcase their relevant skills and experience so please clearly answer these two questions, in order:
1.Describe your experience managing and reconciling high-volume income systems or complex suspense accounts. What is your approach to investigating and resolving unallocated items?

2.Can you give an example of how you have maintained compliance with financial regulations (such as PCIDSS) or strict deadlines during a critical operational period like the financial year-end?
What We Offer

At Camden, you’ll receive a host of benefits. From flexible working to 27 days annual leave (+ bank holidays!). We also know that a work life balance is extremely important so we also offer family leave, loan schemes and access to our incredible staff networks. We also have an incredible pensions scheme.
