HR Director, International

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Human Resources to join our international team to lead and develop the HR team to new heights during a period of business and people growth

Role Overview

As the HR Director, you will play a pivotal role in driving the implementation of best practices across our organization. You will lead a small UK HR team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence. This role requires a seasoned HR professional with a proven track record in managing change and employee relations. Partnering strategically with the Head of International to shape and execute HR initiatives that support growth and performance for the UK and International region, while also remaining hands-on in the day-to-day management.

Reporting to the Head of HR International you will be working closely with the other heads of the HR Centres of Excellence and with the HR International leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Partnership

  • Contribute to wider organisational strategy through insight on workforce planning, capability development, culture, and talent.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on organisational design, change management, and leadership effectiveness.
  • Work in close partnership with the Head of HR on key projects, ensuring the people strategy actively supports Acrisure International’s growth, transformation, and long-term business objectives.
  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to the business, providing commercially focused HR insight.

Operational HR (Hands-On)

  • Lead all HR activity across UK
  • Provide practical, hands-on support across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, and exits.
  • Ensure compliance with UK employment law and internal policies, acting as the escalation point for complex ER matters.
  • Maintain a hands-on approach, engaging directly in operational HR matters, particularly in complex or high-risk situations.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and support a small HR team, ensuring clear priorities, capability development, and high standards of delivery.
  • Foster a collaborative, pragmatic HR function that is responsive to business needs.
  • Balance delegation with personal involvement, stepping in where required to ensure outcomes are delivered.

Talent, Culture & Capability

  • Oversee talent management, succession planning, and leadership development
  • Champion a positive, inclusive culture aligned with organisational values.
  • Support change initiatives and business growth, ensuring people impacts are effectively managed.

Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Review and enhance HR policies, processes, and systems to ensure they are fit for purpose and scalable.
  • Use data and insight to inform decision-making and measure the impact of HR initiatives.
  • Ensure consistency while allowing flexibility to meet the needs of the UK market.

International

  • Develop a strong understanding of the international HR landscape while leading and implementing key global HR initiatives and projects to support business objectives.
  • Consult with US senior management to ensure the implementation of global project supports and meets the needs of the international landscape
  • Work closely with international HR teams to understand local HR landscapes, employment practices, and regulatory environments.
  • Analyse existing HR processes and practices across international regions, identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Head of International HR to develop and shape recommendations aligned to best practice and business needs

Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience as a Senior HR Leader within an International environment.
  • Strong background in both strategic HR partnering and hands-on operational HR delivery.
  • Global experience, preferably collaborating with US
  • CIPD qualified
  • Able to manage change and influence at all levels
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK employment law legislations as well as managing complex employee relations.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to align HR strategies with organizational objectives.
  • Experience in working within a Shared Service environment
