The role

What will you be doing?

Role: HR Business Partner
Location: Dorking or Basingstoke (with hybrid working)
Unum UK are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to join our collaborative HRBP team and partner closely with our Executive Committee, senior leaders and functional leadership teams. This is a fantastic opportunity to influence in a values-driven organisation, while also understanding how our business operates.
You’ll bring insight, challenge and strategic perspective to help drive organisational success—while coaching leaders, enabling high performance, and shaping the future of our people capability across Unum UK.
If you’re commercially minded, relationship-led and excited by both strategic transformation and hands-on delivery, this role offers real opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

What will you bring?

Key Accountabilities:

  • Partner closely with ExCo and senior leaders, providing insight, challenge and coaching to support strong people decisions and effective leadership.
  • Play an active role in functional leadership team meetings, building trusted relationships and influencing at a senior level.
  • Coach and develop leaders and managers to enhance performance and capability across their teams.
  • Lead strategic workforce planning activities with business areas, ensuring future capability and organisational design needs are understood and proactively addressed.
  • Collaborate closely with other HRBPs and HR colleagues to deliver a seamless people experience and ensure insights are effectively shared.
  • Lead organisational design, restructures and TUPE activity, ensuring compliant, effective change delivery that aligns to Unum’s culture and values.
  • Use data and people insights to identify trends, track progress and support evidence‑based decision making across the business.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven HR Business Partner experience and/or strong generalist HR expertise.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with the confidence to partner, influence and challenge senior leaders.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on delivery.
  • Skilled in using data and insight to support decision‑making.
  • Strong project management, communication, presentation and consulting skills.
