About this role

The Senior Human Resources Business Partner for Continental Europe is a senior leadership role accountable for shaping and delivering the people strategy across multiple European markets. This role partners closely with BlackRock’s European Country Managers and regional leadership to drive organizational effectiveness, build leadership and talent pipelines, strengthen cultural cohesion, and ensure regulatory and people risk management – directly enabling BlackRock’s commercial success and delivery to clients as the most global asset manager operating in Europe.  The role operates at the intersection of global strategy and local execution, shaping the future of BlackRock’s people agenda across Europe. 

 

The ideal candidate is a strategic, hands-on leader who thrives in complexity and translates strategy into action. They bring experience across the European labour market and a strong track record of navigating global, high-performance organisations This is a high-impact role requiring deep HR Business Partner expertise and the credibility to advise, challenge and influence senior leaders in a fast-paced, matrixed, international environment. 

 

We’ll trust you to: 

  • Own and deliver a cohesive HR strategy for Continental Europe, aligned with global people priorities and country business objectives. 

  • Service as a trusted advisor to Country Managers and regional leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, leadership effectiveness, succession and change management. 

  • Anticipate and interpret geopolitical, macroeconomic and regulatory developments and translate their potential impact into clear workforce, leadership decisions and people risk implications. 

  • Represent Continental Europe in firmwide people initiatives and contribute to global HR strategy. 

  • Operate locally but navigate globally to support leaders and employees across diverse markets.  

  • Provide regional oversight across core HR disciplines, developing high-performing partnerships with the broader HR BPs, HR Operations, Centres of Excellence, Legal, Finance and others across Europe and New York to deliver effective outcomes. 

  • Drive standardization and process optimization to improve efficiency and employee experience. 

  • Drive organisational change and shape decision-making on high-impact and complex people issues. 

  • Influence senior leaders on engagement, employee experience and inclusion initiatives. 

  • Lead and develop the Continental European HR Advisors to deliver high-quality guidance across the employee lifecycle and drive resolution to complex operational matters. 

  • Partner with Employee Relations and legal counsel to identify, mitigate, and resolve employee relations issues and manage local staff delegations. 

  • Provide leadership input into reward philosophy and delivery of the annual compensation cycle. 

  • Drive informed decision-making through data and insight. 

  • Reinforce and continually evolve BlackRock’s culture across Continental Europe. 

  • Embed the HR Channel strategy, employee self-service and AI-enabled solutions across the region.  

 

You need to have: 

  • Ideally 15+ years of HR Business Partner experience, including designing and delivering a people strategy in complex, multi-country European environments. 

  • Demonstrated ability to advise, challenge and influence senior business leaders in a consultative capacity. 

  • A strong track record of creating a shared vision and influencing HR Centres of Excellence and cross-functional partners to deliver outcomes. 

  • Experience working across the various HR disciplines including reward and talent. 

  • Ability to build effective and trusted relationships and networks across geographies and cultures, inspiring trust amongst colleagues. 

  • Experience delivering firm-wide talent initiatives with excellence in fast paced, global environments.  

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to simplify, influence and tailor messages.  

  • Ability to use HR data and analytics to generate insight and inform decisions. 

  • A leadership style that sets the bar and drives accountability.  

  • Comfort in owning the detail as well as the strategy. 

  • Ability to adapt solutions to changing demands, anticipating the regional and global implications. 

  • Strong commercial acumen and demonstrated interest in financial services.

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
