Designs highways and infrastructure schemes through detailed design, feasibility studies, reports, costings, and bills of quantities. Ensures compliance with specifications, programs, health and safety regulations, CDM requirements, and environmental considerations. Manages clients, stakeholders, subcontractors, and third parties; coordinates multidisciplinary design activities; supports junior staff; and contributes to project management and budgeting. Requires consultancy experience with Section 278/38 processes, road design standards, negotiation, health and safety legislation, and Civil 3D.
SLR have a fantastic new opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer with demonstrable consultancy experience of S278 in a general infrastructure background to join our collaborative and growing Transport Engineering team.

Your key duties will involve the preparation of detailed design, feasibility studies and scheme reports on a variety of projects. Alongside this, you will also have the opportunity to take responsibility for project management, budgeting, producing bill of quantities, and costings.

- Provide assurance that scheme designs comply with specification and agreed programme
- Work to ensure designs comply with health and safety regulations and CDM requirements
- Alongside colleagues, ensure designs are assessed for environmental impacts
- Manage relationships with clients, stakeholders and third parties
- Coordinate with other team members associated with the design
- Support junior team members working on projects

About you
We are looking for an Engineer with consulting experience around the design and management of the Section 278/38 process, as well as:
- Sound knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and Manual for Streets
- Ability to engage and conduct effective negotiations with client, stakeholders, subcontractors and third parties
- Detailed understanding of Health & Safety legislation
- Competent in use of Civils 3D
