As the Residual Value (RV) Risk Manager, you will own the residual value strategy and forecast for FCE within the Risk organisation. You will ensure that RV assumptions used in loan originations and portfolio valuations (provisioning) appropriately reflect market conditions, remarketing performance, and financial exposure.

This role combines risk management expertise, business acumen, and technical fluency. You will translate model outputs and market drivers into actionable residual value decisions and provide clear, compelling communication to senior leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain the bank’s strategy for assessing vehicle residual values, focusing on forecasts used in loan originations and portfolio valuations, ensuring alignment with market conditions, remarketing performance, and portfolio risk.
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain analysis of remarketing, auction, and used vehicle trends to inform risk positioning and support governance committee discussions.
  • Validate actual sales performance versus residual value forecasts, investigating variances and recommending corrective actions to support future loan originations.
  • Assess ongoing financial and risk implications of residual value decisions and communicate trade-offs to leadership.
  • Translate residual value drivers into clear risk narratives and financial impact summaries.
  • Partner with analytics teams to validate and challenge model outputs from a risk perspective.
  • Build and deliver analysis to support risk assessment and leadership reporting.
  • Collaborate with Remarketing, Risk, and Analytics/IT teams on data requirements and reporting enhancements.
  • Handle ad hoc risk requests, delivering presentations and recommendations to senior management.
  • Support governance and rollout of new residual value forecast models.
  • Lead standardisation and automation of residual value risk reporting across FCE markets.
  • Lead and mentor a team of analysts, providing guidance on priorities and supporting career development.
  • Foster a collaborative culture that balances risk discipline with business pragmatism.
Qualifications

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Risk Management, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in residual value setting, risk management, automotive finance, or used vehicle market analysis.
  • 7+ years of team leadership experience, including proven coaching and performance management capability.
  • Strong understanding of the impact of residual values on financial and capital performance, including reserves, exposures, and capital stress testing.
  • Working knowledge of data modelling concepts (statistical, econometric, or machine learning) with the ability to assess and challenge model outputs.
  • Familiarity with data and visualisation tools such as SQL, Python, GCP BigQuery, Alteryx, Power BI, and QlikSense.
  • Strong business and risk acumen, with the ability to turn analytics into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence presenting to senior leaders.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Desirable:

  • 10+ years of experience in an automotive-related industry, including used vehicles, remarketing, sales, or finance.
  • Experience in financial risk management (credit, market, or residual value risk), including interaction with regulators.
  • Previous leadership experience within Risk, Finance, or Business Planning.
  • Technical fluency to engage effectively with Data Science and Analytics teams on model logic and assumptions.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated sound judgement and decision-making in situations with limited information.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into analytical requirements and communicate results back into business terms.
  • Curious, detail-oriented, and proactive in validating data and investigating discrepancies.
  • Growth mindset with a commitment to risk management excellence and continuous technical development.
