Job Description

Are you an experienced tax leader looking to shape tax strategy within one of the UK's leading asset managers? We're looking for a Head of Public Markets Tax to join our Group Finance team.

In this highly visible leadership role, you'll act as the primary tax partner to our Public Markets business, providing strategic tax advice, driving robust governance and compliance, and helping the business navigate an evolving regulatory and commercial landscape. You'll lead a team of specialists, build strong relationships across the organisation, and play a key role in supporting business growth while ensuring effective tax risk management.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading the delivery of tax business partnering, advisory, compliance, reporting and risk management activities across the Public Markets business
  • Acting as the key tax contact and escalation point for Public Markets stakeholders, providing clear and pragmatic advice on complex tax matters
  • Managing and developing a team of tax specialists, ensuring the right expertise and resources are available to support business priorities
  • Building strong relationships with Finance, Legal, Product and Operations teams, as well as external advisers and tax authorities
  • Overseeing tax governance, controls, policies and risk management frameworks to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements
  • Monitoring changes in tax legislation and market developments, assessing potential impacts and communicating recommendations to stakeholders
  • Representing the organisation within industry forums, consultations and engagements with HMRC and other tax authorities
  • Leading the Group's Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) capability, ensuring robust oversight, reporting and compliance processes are maintained

Who we’re looking for:

  • Professionally qualified in Tax (CIOT) and/or Accountancy, or possessing equivalent relevant experience
  • Significant experience leading tax strategy, advisory and compliance activities within asset management, investment management or financial services
  • Strong technical knowledge across UK tax regimes, including corporation tax, income tax, VAT and stamp taxes, alongside an understanding of international tax considerations
  • Experience partnering with senior business leaders and influencing decision-making on complex commercial and tax matters
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to a broad range of audiences
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience developing, motivating and managing specialist teams
  • Sound understanding of risk management, governance frameworks and regulatory requirements within financial services
  • A collaborative and relationship-focused approach, with the ability to build credibility across business functions and external stakeholders

This is an opportunity to influence strategic outcomes, lead a high-performing specialist team and play a pivotal role in supporting the continued success of our Public Markets business.

Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer:

  • The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance -related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
  • Generous pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • Healthcare Plan (permanent employees only)
  • At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, 26 days after 2 years’ service. There’s also the option to buy and sell holiday
  • Competitive family leave
  • Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice (permanent employees only)
  • There are many discounts we offer – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
  • We’re creating net‑zero carbon workplaces by 2030 by investing in our sustainable, modern offices across the UK, all designed to bring people together and elevate the in‑person experience

Additional Information
