The Role:

The Head of Private Markets Investment Platform will shape and lead the technology platform and data enablement underpinning M&G’s Private Markets growth ambitions across Private Credit and Structured Finance, Private Equity, Infrastructure and Real Estate. As the principal technology partner to the Chief Investment Officer and Private Markets leadership team, the role will translate business strategy into a coherent platform vision, target architecture and funded multi-year roadmap.

The role owns the end-to-end investment technology estate, balancing transformation, business-as-usual change and live service to create simpler workflows, trusted data and resilient, scalable platforms. It will also build a high-performing, globally distributed organisation with clear accountability, strong Private Markets expertise and mature engineering, delivery and service disciplines.

Key Accountabilities:

Strategy, Architecture and Investment Governance

  • Own the Private Markets platform strategy, target architecture and funded roadmap, aligning investment priorities to measurable business outcomes.
  • Establish a coherent platform model that reduces fragmentation and technical debt, promotes reusable enterprise capabilities and preserves genuinely differentiated asset-class requirements.
  • Build trusted partnerships with senior Investment, Operations and Technology stakeholders to agree priorities, resolve competing demands and direct funding and resources towards the highest-value outcomes.

Platform Transformation and Integration

  • Lead transformation of the end-to-end investment lifecycle, simplifying processes, reducing manual intervention and delivering scalable digital workflows.
  • Deliver strategic and business-as-usual change predictably, while integrating acquired businesses without disrupting critical specialist capabilities or services.

Data, Analytics and AI

  • Partner with the Asset Management Data Platform to establish trusted, governed and reusable Private Markets data with clear ownership, quality and lineage.
  • Use automation, analytics and AI to improve investment decisions, accelerate processing and reduce operational effort within appropriate governance, human oversight and risk controls.

Service, Resilience and Control

  • Own platform health, production service and operational resilience, ensuring stability, cybersecurity, privacy and continuity remain within risk appetite.
  • Maintain clear service, risk, delivery, adoption and benefits measures to demonstrate accountability, service quality and return on investment.

Commercial and Supplier Management

  • Own portfolio financial management, including budgets, forecasts, investment cases and cost optimisation.
  • Govern strategic vendors and platforms—including DealCloud, Verity and Wall Street Office—to ensure architectural alignment, contractual control, strong service performance, adoption and value for money.

Organisation and Capability

  • Build the workforce and capabilities required to deliver the platform strategy, strengthening domain expertise, engineering, data, delivery and service disciplines.
  • Establish integrated, outcome-led teams with clear ownership and decision rights, while promoting common platforms and enterprise standards across Asset Management Technology.

Key Skills and Experience:

Skills and Experience

  • Senior technology leadership experience within asset management, alternative investments, banking or another regulated financial-services environment.
  • Ownership of a complex investment platform spanning strategy, transformation, business-as-usual change and live service.

  • Experience defining platform, architecture and data strategy and translating it into a funded roadmap.
  • Delivery of major platform, data and process transformation with sustained business adoption.
  • Leadership of globally distributed, multidisciplinary teams and matrix partners.
  • Responsibility for operational resilience, technology risk, budgets, suppliers and regulatory or audit engagement.
  • Executive influence, commercial judgement and the ability to resolve competing priorities.
  • Experience integrating acquired businesses or simplifying fragmented technology estates.
  • Practical understanding of data, cloud, integration, workflow, analytics, automation and AI in a regulated environment.
