Every Preply lesson sparks change, fuels ambition, and drives progress that matters. Joining Preply means helping define the future of education at global scale, and building something that truly matters for millions of people, every day.

Expansion at Preply is focused on identifying and unlocking the next frontiers of growth through launching new subjects, scaling new markets, and reaching new learner segments. This includes expanding beyond growth metrics focused on first subscription, towards maximising value across the full customer lifetime. These new growth areas represent a significantly larger TAM opportunity versus our core language business, with strong demand growth and superior unit economics.

As Head of Marketing Expansion, you will own the end-to-end marketing strategy for this mission. You will operate as a senior leader and thought partner to the VP of Performance Marketing and Growth and the core Expansion team, setting the strategic direction for how we position, launch, and scale Preply across new categories, audiences, and markets. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role with significant scope to shape Preply's next chapter of growth.

What you'll be doing:

  • Define and own the marketing vision for Preply's Expansion mission: Set the strategic direction for how we market new verticals and new audience segments at scale, ensuring marketing is a key driver of mission success from day one.

  • Shape go-to-market strategy for new categories and audiences: Lead the development of positioning, messaging, and channel strategies for Non-Language Subjects and emerging learner personas, translating business ambition into executable marketing plans.

  • Drive brand positioning as a strategic enabler: Partner closely with Brand and Product Marketing to evolve how Preply is perceived beyond language learning, ensuring positioning decisions are grounded in customer insight and validated before full-scale deployment.

  • Set the performance framework for Expansion marketing: Define KPIs across the funnel (awareness, acquisition, activation, retention) for new segments and categories; own the reporting cadence and hold the team accountable to results.

  • Lead cross-functional alignment at a senior level: Act as the primary marketing voice in cross-functional forums, ensuring expansion marketing is integrated into broader business planning from validation through launch.

  • Own the playbook for scalable expansion: Develop repeatable go-to-market frameworks that can be adapted across subjects, geographies, and personas, balancing speed of experimentation with the rigor needed to scale confidently.

What you need to succeed:

  • Senior marketing leadership experience: Significant experience in marketing with meaningful time in senior leadership roles; proven track record of building and scaling marketing functions in high-growth, international environments.

  • Strategic depth with executional credibility: Ability to operate at the level of vision and strategy while maintaining hands-on judgment on channel mix, creative direction, and performance optimization.

  • Expansion and go-to-market expertise: Deep experience launching into new markets, categories, or audience segments, including defining positioning, building playbooks, and iterating based on market feedback.

  • Analytical rigor: Highly comfortable with data, opportunity sizing, and performance frameworks; able to build the business case for marketing investment and measure impact with precision.

  • Executive communication and stakeholder influence: Exceptional ability to communicate strategy, frame tradeoffs, and align senior stakeholders across functions and geographies on a shared direction.

  • Brand and positioning acumen: Strong understanding of how brand positioning drives business outcomes, with experience navigating repositioning or brand extension in competitive markets.

  • People leadership and team building: Demonstrated success hiring, developing, and retaining senior marketing talent; experience building high-performing teams in dynamic, ambiguous environments.

  • Structured thinking in ambiguous contexts: Comfortable operating in early-stage, mission-building environments where the path is not yet fully defined, able to bring clarity and prioritization when it matters most.

Why you'll love it at Preply:

  • Open, collaborative, dynamic and diverse culture.

  • Generous monthly allowance for lessons on Preply.com .

  • Learning & Development budget, including time off for your self-development.

  • Competitive financial package with equity, and leave allowance.

  • Opportunity to shape the lives of learners and tutors from over 175 countries through language learning and teaching.
