How does this role contribute to our collective success?
Data, analytics and AI are critical enablers of AXIS' strategic ambitions. The Head of Insights & Analytics – Claims will lead the delivery of insights, analytics and AI solutions that support Claims teams in making better, faster and more informed decisions.
This role is accountable for translating Claims priorities into impactful data products, analytics solutions and AI-enabled capabilities that improve claims outcomes, operational efficiency, customer service, leakage management, reserving effectiveness and operational performance.
As the senior Insights & Analytics leader aligned to the Claims organisation, you will act as a strategic partner to Claims leadership, ensuring that data and AI investments are focused on measurable business value. You will work closely with the Claims, Reserving, Actuarial, Finance, Underwriting and Transformation teams to develop a coherent view of claims performance, emerging trends and opportunities for improvement across the claims lifecycle.
The role combines business partnership, people leadership and delivery accountability, ensuring that AXIS continues to evolve its use of analytics and AI to drive better claims outcomes and operational excellence.
What will you do in this role?

Strategic Partnership with Claims Leadership

  • Act as the primary Data & Analytics partner for Claims leadership.

  • Develop a deep understanding of Claims priorities, challenges, operating models and strategic objectives.

  • Translate business needs into a prioritised portfolio of insights, analytics and AI initiatives

Lead Delivery of Claims Insights & Analytics

  • Own the delivery of Claims-focused reporting, dashboards, analytics solutions and AI-enabled capabilities.

  • Drive the evolution of Claims MI from operational reporting towards predictive and prescriptive insights.

  • Champion self-service analytics and scalable data products that enable Claims teams to access trusted information when needed.

Partner Closely with Reserving

  • Work closely with the Insights & Analytics Lead - Reserving and Reserving leadership to ensure alignment between Claims and Reserving analytics priorities.

  • Support a consistent view of claims performance, loss development, claims trends and portfolio movements across Claims and Reserving.

Lead AI and Automation Opportunities

  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI, advanced analytics, automation and innovative technologies across the Claims function.

  • Work with Analytics, AI Delivery and Insights Delivery teams to ensure solutions can be implemented effectively and sustainably.

  • Promote responsible, controlled and value-focused adoption of AI capabilities within Claims.

Deliver Business Value

  • Ensure analytics and AI initiatives are clearly linked to business outcomes.

  • Define measures of success and track the value delivered by solutions.

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and evidence-based decision making.

Stakeholder Engagement and Influence

  • Build trusted relationships with senior Claims leaders and business stakeholders.

  • Act as a bridge between business priorities and technical delivery teams.

  • Communicate complex analytical concepts in a way that is understandable and actionable for non-technical audiences.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Lead and develop a team of Insights & Analytics professionals aligned to the Claims value stream.

  • Encourage reuse of common solutions, patterns and best practices across the wider Insights & Analytics function.

Governance and Standards

  • Ensure solutions are delivered in line with AXIS data governance, AI governance and information management standards.

  • Partner with Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Operations and Platform teams to ensure Claims solutions are built on trusted data foundations.

What do we expect of you?

  • Experience leading analytics, business intelligence, data or AI teams.

  • Experience partnering with Claims, Insurance Operations, Actuarial or Reserving functions within the insurance industry.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy into practical analytics and AI solutions.

  • Experience delivering measurable business outcomes through the use of analytics, data products or AI capabilities.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of insurance claims processes, operational performance measures and claims data.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical execution.

  • Knowledge of modern analytics, business intelligence and AI technologies.

Success in this role will be measured by:
Business Impact of Insights: Demonstrable improvements in claims outcomes, operational performance, claims handling efficiency and decision-making driven by insights, analytics and AI solutions.
Stakeholder Trust & Adoption: Strong engagement and satisfaction from Claims leadership and business stakeholders, with analytics products routinely used to support business decisions.
Delivery of Strategic Priorities: Successful delivery of agreed Claims analytics and AI priorities, with clear linkage to business value and strategic objectives.
Innovation with Control: Increased use of AI, automation and modern analytics approaches within Claims, delivered responsibly and in line with AXIS governance requirements.
Role Factors:
In office 3 days per week
What we offer:
For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $175,000 - $200,000 (NY). Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location. 
In addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance. On top of this, you will be eligible for a comprehensive and competitive benefits package which includes medical plans for you and your family, health and wellness programs, retirement plans, tuition reimbursement, paid vacation, and much more.  
Where this role is based in the United States of America, this role is Exempt for FLSA purposes.
