Role Overview

The Head of HR will lead the HR function across the business, owning the people strategy end-to-end — spanning employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, compliance, learning and development, employee engagement, and HR operations. This is a senior leadership role, reporting into [Executive/Board level], responsible for building and leading the HR team, advising the leadership team on all people matters, and ensuring our HR strategy directly supports business growth and commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

People Strategy & Leadership

  • Own and drive the overall HR strategy, aligning people initiatives with business goals and growth plans.
  • Lead, manage, and develop the HR team, building capability and capacity as the business scales.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the leadership team and Board on all people-related matters.
  • Own the people budget and report on HR metrics, workforce planning, and organisational health to senior leadership.
  • Champion organisational design and change management initiatives as the business evolves.

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Set the framework and tone for employee relations across the business, overseeing complex grievances, disciplinary procedures, investigations, and conflict resolution.
  • Lead the design and delivery of employee engagement, wellbeing, and inclusion strategy.
  • Own the culture agenda, building a positive, collaborative, and high-performing workplace.
  • Act as an escalation point for the most sensitive or high-risk employee relations issues.

Performance Management

  • Design and own the performance management framework across the business.
  • Guide senior managers in setting objectives, KPIs, and development plans that align with business strategy.
  • Oversee performance review cycles and lead performance improvement initiatives at a strategic level.
  • Embed a culture of continuous feedback, accountability, and employee development.

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Own the talent acquisition strategy, ensuring the business can attract and retain top digital and technology talent at scale.
  • Oversee end-to-end recruitment processes, partnering with senior hiring managers on critical and leadership hires.
  • Lead workforce planning in partnership with the leadership team to anticipate future hiring needs.
  • Ensure a best-in-class candidate experience and continuously improve the recruitment lifecycle.
  • Build strategic talent pipelines and employer branding initiatives to support long-term growth.

Policy, Compliance & HR Operations

  • Own HR policy, ensuring full compliance with UK employment legislation and industry best practice.
  • Oversee employee records, HR systems, contracts, and GDPR compliance across the organisation.
  • Oversee payroll and benefits strategy, including design and administration of competitive reward structures.
  • Ensure organisation-wide compliance with employment law, health and safety, and internal governance standards.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel and HR advisors as needed.

Learning & Development

  • Set the strategic direction for learning and development across the organisation.
  • Partner with senior leaders to identify organisational skills gaps and future capability needs.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of L&D programmes, including leadership development.
  • Build a culture of career development and continuous learning at every level.

Strategic HR & Business Partnering

  • Sit as a key member of the senior leadership team, contributing to overall business strategy.
  • Lead organisational development activities, including succession planning and leadership pipeline development.
  • Own and drive diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy across the business.
  • Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement at scale.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CIPD Level 7 (essential).
  • Extensive HR leadership experience within the UK (8+ years), including significant experience operating at a senior/Head of HR level.
  • Demonstrable experience building and leading HR teams.
  • Deep knowledge of UK employment law, with experience handling complex and high-risk ER cases.
  • Track record of designing and delivering HR strategy that supports business growth.
  • Experience managing end-to-end recruitment strategy at scale, including senior/leadership hiring.
  • Experience within a consultancy, technology, or fast-growing organisation is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to influence at Board/executive level.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to connect people strategy to business outcomes.
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proactive, strategic, and solutions-focused mindset, comfortable operating in a fast-paced, scaling environment.

How We Work

It is our mission to make digital easy through intelligent systems that predict needs, automate complexity, and drive measurable value for the citizens and organisations we serve.

Our values:

  • Collaboration: We are stronger as a team than as individuals. We tackle problems and celebrate wins together.
  • Create Value Early: We find the quickest route from idea to product, because the people we serve rely on us to do what's best.
  • Integrity: Teamwork requires trust. We can always be relied upon to uphold the highest standards.
  • Commitment: No matter what, no matter how, we give our full effort to keeping our promises and achieving our goals.
Diversity and Inclusion

At Scrumconnect Consulting, we believe that diversity drives innovation and better outcomes. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every individual is valued, respected and supported.

We warmly welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds, and particularly encourage women and people from other underrepresented groups to apply, including people with disabilities, diverse communities, and those seeking flexible working arrangements. You don't need to meet every point above to be a great fit; we'd love to hear from you if this role resonates.

As a Disability Confident Level 1 employer, we are committed to providing reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process and during employment, to ensure equal opportunities for all.
