Job Description

The Head of Commercial Analytics and Insights will lead the centralized organization that provides commercial insights, advanced analytics, data science, market research, competitive intelligence, and forecasting for the U.S. Business Unit. As a member of the U.S. Business Unit Executive Leadership Team, this leader will set the organization’s vision, structure, capabilities, talent strategy, and operating model. The role will ensure that U.S. franchise teams receive timely, actionable insights to support strategic decisions, commercial performance, and business planning.


Key Responsibilities


  • Strategy and Organizational Leadership
  • Define and execute the vision, operating model, and priorities for the Commercial Analytics and Insights organization.
  • Set an enterprise-wide insights strategy that connects research, commercial data, and analytics across franchises, making existing knowledge easier to find, reuse, and apply to business decisions.
  • Lead a center of excellence that serves U.S. franchise teams, assessing capability gaps, strengthening support, and reducing duplication and inefficiencies.
  • Develop and manage the organization’s work plan, including team structure, roles, budget, key activities, and deliverables.
  • Recruit, develop, motivate, and retain a high-performing team of insights, analytics, data science, and forecasting professionals.
  • Commercial Insights, Analytics, and Forecasting
  • Lead market research, competitive intelligence, business analytics, reporting, data science, and forecasting to generate actionable commercial insights.
  • Build and lead a market research and forecasting function that serves as a primary source of insight for commercial strategy and planning, drawing on primary and secondary research.
  • Build and lead a data science team that uses advanced analytical models to identify when patients may be approaching key decision points and help inform the timing of support and information.
  • Partner with Finance to optimize and execute a quarterly latest-estimate process that informs net sales guidance, production planning, incentive compensation, and other downstream business needs.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership and Execution
  • Work closely with commercial and franchise leaders to align priorities, deliver high-quality work, and support performance objectives.
  • Lead the responsible adoption of AI-enabled insights and analytics, partnering with Digital and Data teams to develop scalable, governed tools that help teams explore research and generate insights.
  • Partner with Digital and Data teams to apply relevant analytics and market research techniques and, where feasible, standardize and automate analytics to provide more timely insights.
  • Establish and manage effective agency and vendor partnerships.
  • Develop and deliver clear, compelling presentations and recommendations to senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications


  • BS/BA degree in business or related discipline. Advanced degree preferred (e.g., MBA, MPH, PharmD, PhD).
  • Fifteen (15) or more years of experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries including at least 5-7 years in forecasting, market research, or analytics senior leadership roles.
  • Biopharmaceutical commercial capabilities at a leadership level is required.
  • Experience in and understanding of other commercial functions (e.g., marketing, market access, sales operations, sales training, insights/analytics, business development will be an important consideration for this role.
  • Experience building new centers of excellence teams, optimizing, capabilities building, and leading organization change.

  • Highly skilled in influencing cross-functional, highly matrixed teams, including interfacing with key internal and external stakeholders and with scientific and commercial teams.
  • Fluent in a modern marketing tech stack overall, but with specific knowledge of data pipeline and analytics tools, combined with an ability to foster the increased use of such tools within the business
  • Ability to build and communicate data-driven decisions including clear view of the pros and cons associated with various alternatives.
  • Must be a resourceful, creative problem solver who seeks out, and is receptive to, new ideas and approaches to solving persistent challenges.
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively and seamlessly at multiple “altitudes” within the organization. Maintains a “no job is too big or too small” attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills (including ability to successfully convey insights and recommendations via PowerPoint), including ability to synthesize data and deliver a clear overview of the state of the business, drivers of performance, opportunities and risks, and recommended action plans. Strong executive presence and comfortable presenting executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract top talent with diverse backgrounds and to build cohesive, high performing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes in the work environment. Manages competing demands. Changes approach or method to best fit the situation. Able to deal with frequent change, delays, unexpected events, or uncertainty/ambiguity with maturity and professionalism.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$352,000.00 - $484,000.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
