Lloyd’s is the world’s leading insurance and reinsurance marketplace, bringing together the world’s leading risk takers to advance global progress.

Our strategy is focused on delivering strong underwriting performance, operating an efficient and flexible marketplace, and maximising the capital advantage of the Lloyd’s market — while continuing to build a Lloyd’s we are proud of.

How we deliver this, matters. We take the risk, make things happen, and own the outcome — working together across our global network to turn insight into impact.

We’re looking for a Head of Claims Oversight to lead how we oversee, challenge and strengthen claims performance across the Lloyd’s market.

This is a senior, influential role with the opportunity to shape how claims is viewed, managed and continuously improved across the market. You’ll bring insight, judgement and a clear focus on outcomes. You’ll build trusted relationships with senior market leaders, use data to identify emerging risks and know when to challenge, intervene or escalate.

And you’ll lead a team with the expertise and confidence to make a difference.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll lead our Claims Oversight team and help ensure managing agents deliver claims services that meet Lloyd’s expectations and support strong syndicate performance.

You’ll:

  • Lead Principle 4, Claims Management, within our Principles Based Oversight framework.
  • Identify and respond to emerging claims performance risks, taking proportionate action when needed.
  • Use claims data and management information to turn insight into focused market action.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior leaders across managing agents, brokers and market representative groups.
  • Lead our day-to-day relationship with the LMA on claims matters.
  • Lead the claims response for Lloyd’s Major Event Response activity.
  • Work closely with Claims Operations, Claims Insight, Underwriting, Pricing, Reserving, Customer and Culture teams.
  • Influence the development of Lloyd’s claims and performance management strategy.
  • Lead, develop and empower a high-performing Claims Oversight team.

This is about more than identifying problems. You’ll help shape better outcomes for the market.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone with strong claims expertise, sound judgement and the ability to influence at senior level.

You’ll bring:

  • Significant claims experience gained in an operational, technical or oversight environment.
  • Strong knowledge of claims management and risk, alongside experience of the insurance or wider financial services sector.
  • An understanding of Lloyd’s, the London Market and international insurance markets.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders in complex organisations and navigating competing priorities.
  • Evidence of influencing and negotiating challenging issues to reach effective outcomes.
  • Experience leading and developing teams or subject matter experts.
  • The ability to interpret complex information and turn it into clear, concise recommendations.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, with evidence of taking ownership through to delivery.
  • Experience delivering business change or improvement.

You don’t need to approach every challenge in the same way. We value leaders who listen, adapt and bring different perspectives together to get to the right outcome.

The opportunity

Claims matters. It’s where the promise made through insurance becomes real.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to influence claims performance across the Lloyd’s market while helping us respond to major events and emerging risks.

You’ll challenge constructively. You’ll use evidence to focus attention where it matters. And you’ll give your team the confidence and space to use their expertise.

Our strategy is focused on strong underwriting performance, an efficient and flexible marketplace, and maximising the capital advantage of the Lloyd’s market.

Being inclusive at Lloyd’s is integral to how we work — and how we deliver impact.
We aim to build a diverse, inclusive environment that reflects the global markets we serve, where everyone is treated with dignity and respect and supported to reach their full potential.

We take the risk by challenging traditional thinking and being proactive about inclusion. That means being open and positive about workplace adjustments, prioritising health and wellbeing, and investing in diversity and inclusion training so everyone feels able to contribute and succeed.

We make things happen by turning our commitment into action. Through employee networks, mentoring, volunteering opportunities and sustained investment in professional development, we create an environment where inclusion is experienced day‑to‑day — not just talked about.

We own the outcome by focusing on impact. By bringing together diverse perspectives and the best minds in the industry, we work collaboratively with underwriters and brokers to create innovative, responsive solutions that share risk and solve complex problems across global markets.
