The Role

This is the first dedicated B2B marketing leadership role at Zopa and an opportunity to build a new capability for Zopa for Business. Working in close partnership with leaders across Product, Commercial and Marketing, this person will build on the foundations already in place: Product Marketing support for launches, a consolidated proposition and website, early content and social activity, with Sales enablement support.

The role covers the Zopa for Business portfolio, with a primary focus on Retail Finance and Payments, alongside Partnerships and Auto Finance. It owns the marketing strategy and operating direction needed to turn our early momentum into repeatable commercial growth.

This is a role with real depth: multi-faceted propositions, longer sales cycles, multiple decision makers and routes to market spanning direct mid-market and enterprise sales, partner-led SME distribution and strategic partnerships.

The function will be AI-centric by design. AI should remove much of the execution burden and accelerate output, but it does not replace strategic prioritisation, proposition judgement, creativity, senior stakeholder alignment or accountability for commercial outcomes.

This person will set the direction, build the capability and stay close to delivery, with success measured by the commercial outcomes Marketing creates.

A day in the life

    • Define the B2B marketing strategy, priorities, annual plan and budget, translating agreed Commercial and Product priorities into a focused marketing plan.

    • Use customer, market and competitive insight to identify the sectors, audiences and opportunities where Marketing can have the greatest impact.

    • Build an integrated demand engine across awareness, consideration and nurturing enquiries through to an agreed Sales handover, with Sales owning qualification, opportunity progression and the commercial relationship.

    • Own partner, channel and strategic partnership marketing, working with Commercial and Product to develop the positioning, proof and go-to-market activity needed to create demand at scale.

    • Create coherent buyer and partner experiences, working closely with Product Marketing on propositions, positioning, launches and high-value Sales and partner enablement.

    • Build and lead a growing B2B marketing function in an early-stage environment, setting clear priorities, building capability and establishing the operating rhythm and accountability needed to scale.

    • Develop an AI-centric operating model across research, insight, campaigns, content, production, reporting and workflow. Develop the team’s AI capability and scale use cases that measurably improve quality, speed, commercial performance or productivity.

    • Establish measurement that leadership can trust, connecting marketing activity to qualified demand, pipeline, partner growth, conversion and revenue.

What you’ll bring

    • Significant B2B marketing experience across complex or considered propositions involving multiple decision-makers and longer Sales cycles.

    • Experience building or scaling a demand engine across direct and partner-led channels, connecting awareness and consideration to Sales opportunities and commercial outcomes.

    • Experience working closely with Product Marketing, with the ability to balance strategic proposition and go-to-market thinking with hands-on campaign management and Sales-related motions.

    • Experience leading integrated marketing plans and budgets across campaigns, content, customer proof, digital, partnerships and Sales activation.

    • A commercial approach to measurement and attribution, with the ability to explain Marketing’s contribution and use evidence to prioritise investment.

    • Practical experience using AI and automation to improve insight, execution, measurement or team productivity, alongside the judgement to know where human expertise remains essential.

    • Experience leading and developing a team and working effectively with agencies, specialists and cross-functional partners.

Experience in financial services, payments, lending, embedded finance, fintech or another regulated industry would be helpful, but is not essential.

How you’ll work

    • Strong strategic judgement and commercial awareness, using customer insight, data and market context to create focus and make clear trade-offs.

    • Holistic thinking about the buyer and partner experience, connecting work across Commercial, Product and Marketing while maintaining clear ownership.

    • Curiosity and pragmatism about AI, continually testing how emerging tools can improve outcomes without adopting technology for its own sake.

    • Leadership through others, building capability and accountability while staying close enough to delivery to maintain momentum and quality.

    • Clear and compelling communication, with the ability to simplify complexity for customers, partners, Sales teams and senior stakeholders.

What success looks like

Success will be measured through commercial impact and the capability built around it:

    • A stronger market presence that improves conversion and supports shorter Sales cycles.

    • More qualified businesses and partners entering the funnel and progressing into Sales opportunities.

    • Greater partner activation, enabling growth without adding Sales capacity one for one.

    • Clear visibility of Marketing’s contribution to pipeline, partner growth and revenue.

    • AI embedded into day-to-day Marketing, delivering measurable improvements in speed, quality, insight and productivity.

Progress will then be tracked against an agreed leadership scorecard spanning search and discovery visibility, website traffic, enquiries and demo requests, meetings held, Sales-accepted pipeline opportunities and marketing-sourced revenue - with clear baselines from day one.

At Zopa we value flexible ways of working.

We value face-to-face collaboration and a good work-life balance. This hybrid role requires you to come to our London office 2-3 days a week.

You'll also have the option of working from abroad for up to 120 days a year!* But no matter where you are, we’ll make sure you’ve got everything you need to thrive, both in your work and home life, from day one.

*Subject to having the right to work in the country of choice

Diversity Statement

Zopa is proud to offer a workplace free from discrimination. Diversity of experience, perspectives, and backgrounds leads to better products for our customers and a unique company culture for our people. We are made up of nearly 50 nationalities, have a DE&I forum made up of Zopians wanting to make a difference and we are proud of our culture where everyone can bring their full self to work. Our approach to DE&I is reflected in our hiring process so please let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments.

Our approach to AI in interviews

At Zopa, AI isn't something we're testing out — it's part of how we work every day. As a proud partner of Jobs 2030, we're committed to building AI fluency across our workforce, and we expect Zopians to use AI as part of how they do their jobs.

Because of that, we want to be transparent about how we think about AI use during our hiring process.

Behavioural and competency-based interviews: please don't use AI. These conversations are designed to understand you — your experiences, your judgment, and how you've approached real situations. An AI-generated answer can't tell us that. What it can do is get in the way of us finding out whether we're the right fit for each other.

Technical interviews: it depends on the role. Some technical stages actively welcome AI use, others don't. Your Talent Partner will let you know what's expected at each stage. Where AI is part of the assessment, we'll be interested not just in the outcome, but in how you used it – the tools you chose, your reasoning, and the decisions you made along the way.

What you need to know about the London Tech Scene

London isn't just a hub for established businesses; it's also a nursery for innovation. Boasting one of the most recognized fintech ecosystems in Europe, attracting billions in investments each year, London's success has made it a go-to destination for startups looking to make their mark. Top U.K. companies like Hoptin, Moneybox and Marshmallow have already made the city their base — yet fintech is just the beginning. From healthtech to renewable energy to cybersecurity and beyond, the city's startups are breaking new ground across a range of industries.
