About this OpportunityAre you a finance professional with a passion for Treasury and a desire to craft the future of banking while helping Britain prosper?
What we do makes a genuine difference to families, businesses, and communities as we play a central role in creating a thriving UK economy. In this role, you’ll be joining our Group Corporate Treasury (GCT) function, which is responsible for arranging funding, liquidity, and capital, as well as managing market risk for the Group. Your initial focus will be on complex one-off transactions, new products, and new business initiatives; whilst playing a key role in encouraging a strong culture of process improvement within our function.
Day-to-Day ResponsibilitiesConduct feasibility analysis of business proposals and collaborate with cross-functional teams to design innovative and efficient structures for transactions such as capital debt restructuring, securitisations, mergers, and acquisitions.
Summarise statutory and management accounting impacts of complex transactions at both Group and legal entity levels, considering both day-one and ongoing effects.
Analyse hedge accounting implications and assess capacity within existing models.
Understand operational booking approaches and identify limitations or challenges for new products or initiatives, supporting SMEs in designing practical solutions.
Evaluate governance requirements for proposals and ensure adherence to Group Minimum Standards.
Prepare governance papers, including summary documents and detailed accounting analysis, and host governance meetings to engage colleagues and secure timely approvals.
If you think all banks are the same, you’d be wrong. We’re an innovative, fast-changing business that’s shaping finance as a force for good. A bank that’s empowering its people to innovate, explore possibilities and grow with purpose.
What You'll NeedActively working towards a recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
A genuine enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity for Treasury—someone who’s eager to immerse themselves in the intricacies of funding, liquidity, and market risk, and who finds energy in exploring financial instruments like Interest Rate Swaps and Bonds
Awareness of hedge accounting and Treasury hedging strategies
Proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
Excellent collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to present complex concepts in a clear and accessible way
Commercial and strategic mentality, with the confidence to challenge assumptions constructively
A restless curiosity to improve processes and explore the potential of data technologies (e.g. Power BI, Python)
