Job Description

We are seeking an ambitious, technically minded Systems Engineer to join our Guardian Mobile delivery team. Designed for a high-performing graduate, this role offers the opportunity to take technical ownership of complex infrastructure, systems integration, and deployment environments for strategic blue-light emergency services customers across the UK.

Bridging the gap between operational needs and enterprise architecture, you will collaborate closely with Technical Project Managers to validate system designs and execute technical configurations from contract award through to go-live. Because our products support life-critical situations, you will apply a rigorous, highly analytical engineering approach to ensure high availability and resilience across every deployment. At Motorola Solutions, we foster a people-first culture that empowers you to explore your potential, innovate what's next, and grow your career. Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience is valued.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Ownership & Configuration

  • Drive end-to-end technical configuration, system design validation, and integration of mobile solutions from contract award through live service delivery

  • Capture customer operational requirements and translate them into robust, high-availability technical system architecture

  • Ensure new infrastructure features and platform integrations align with core product engineering designs

Enterprise Integration & Infrastructure

  • Partner with customer IT and infrastructure leads to integrate systems securely into complex client environment architectures

  • Apply rigorous, risk-averse engineering principles to validate high-availability configurations and failover architectures

  • Perform root-cause troubleshooting across complex software and infrastructure deployment environments

Technical Documentation & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation detailing system-level designs, interface specifications, and implementation patterns

  • Act as a primary technical point of contact, liaising confidently with customers, internal engineering teams, and third-party suppliers

  • Align project delivery with Agile software delivery methodologies and modern DevOps practices

Basic Requirements
  • First-Class or 2:1 Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Systems Architecture, IT, or an engineering discipline

  • Solid experience with core systems engineering principles, network security, Microsoft Server environments, or database management acquired through academic study, industrial placements, or practical projects

  • Ability to obtain NPPV3 and SC security clearance requiring UK residency

Job Requirements

Technical Expertise

  • System-Level Architecture to validate high-level software infrastructure design and high-availability patterns

  • Network Security & Infrastructure to manage WAN technologies, routing, and firewalls

  • Microsoft Server Ecosystem to configure Server Core, IIS web hosting, Application Request Routing, and file shares

  • High Availability & Clustering to deploy load balancing and Microsoft Server failover clustering

  • Database Management to write SQL queries and manage Microsoft SQL Server structures

  • Cloud Infrastructure to support application deployment in Microsoft Azure or hybrid cloud environments

  • Language Proficiency to demonstrate an excellent command of English in written and verbal technical communications

Professional Experience

  • Technical Troubleshooting to analyze complex software or infrastructure issues and drive structured root-cause resolution

  • Technical Stakeholder Management to translate enterprise architecture concepts into clear language for technical and non-technical audiences

  • Agile & DevOps to participate in modern software development and collaborative deployment workflows

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)

  • Industrial placement year or internship experience within an enterprise systems engineering, infrastructure, or software deployment environment

  • Exposure to or familiarity with UK blue-light (Police, Fire, Ambulance) agencies, control room operations, or Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) software
