Summary:
An exciting opportunity to work on a high-profile project based role as a Global Short-Tail Pricing Actuary. The role will present fantastic opportunities to learn from, and engage with well-established business units across multiple regions as we renovate the pricing landscape.
The role will be based out of London with the prospect to travel if desired (non-essential).
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with short-tailed underwriting units to support the build of an ambitious future state for Property pricing including a new globally consistent pricing model featuring:
- predictive modeling
- integrated data pipelines
- connected 3rd party data sources
- Establish consistent and comparable technical pricing across Sompo’s short-tailed global business.
- Provide leadership in an evolving global property analytical ecosystem as we develop methodology, standards and tools to tier renewals, manage capacity, allocate capital and reinsurance costs, etc.
- The role focuses on designing the model specifications rather than building in HX
- Work closely with underwriting and pricing leadership to support the curation of a high-quality portfolio.
- Develop and maintain performance monitoring reports providing insight and MI.
- Support the development of reinsurance strategy and build compelling reinsurance submissions.
- Coordinate the annual planning process across property business units and technical staff to global ensure consistency.
- Leverage technology to develop of data assets that enhance our analytic capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of GI pricing experience, preferably with exposure to pricing a short-tailed line of business.
- Previous exposure to capital modelling would be advantageous but not essential.
- Working knowledge of coding languages, preferably R, Python and SQL.
- Excellent communication (to a variety of audiences) and interpersonal skills are required alongside the ability to work collaboratively.
- Strong knowledge of pricing and portfolio management techniques.
- Highly organized and self-motivated with proven ability to prioritize projects and execute to deadline.
- Excellent technical and analytical skills, combined with sound actuarial judgement and commercial awareness.
