Job Description

The Role

Job Overview

You will manage the delivery of international secondments within Clifford Chance and be involved in general mobility within the Firm. You will provide specialist support for complex cases and offer clear advice on the international secondments policies. You will liaise with colleagues across global offices and work closely with the Head of Global Mobility to deliver accurate statistical data on the Firm's mobility trends. Additionally, you will ensure timely and efficient index and exchange rate reviews, and handle all aspects of people movement, from accommodation assistance to repatriation.

You will work with the wider global mobility team, HR Professionals, Global Tax Team, Regional Business Managers, Practice Area Managers, Partners and International Secondees.


What you will be responsible for

You will ensure compliance with immigration, tax, and employment regulations while providing a seamless secondment experience for employees. You will also collaborate with key stakeholders to optimise mobility policies, control costs, and align with business objectives.


What you will do

  • Drafting secondment contracts and information sheets for potential secondments and advising the business on which policy applies.
  • Assessing requests to work overseas under the working from anywhere policy.
  • First point of contact for queries relating to secondments, the global secondment policies, global mobility, and global processes.
  • Providing estimated costings to stakeholders explaining the cost to the Firm of the secondment.
  • Manage end-to-end employee relocation processes for international secondees, including pre-departure planning, immigration planning, and accommodation arrangements.
  • Holding a face-to-face meeting with every prospective secondee to discuss terms and logistics and ensuring the policy is clearly explained.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for international secondees and their families, addressing queries and resolving issues during the relocation process.
  •  Liaise with the Tax Specialist to confirm decisions and results related to cost and revenue calculations throughout the secondment process.
  • Reviewing or drafting the calculation of the secondment remuneration package, including net salary calculation.
  • Calculating, reviewing, and communicating the new Cost of Living, Per Diem, Accommodation, Exchange Rates, and Location Factors on a cyclical basis.
  • Ensuring that globally the third-party vendor relationships are maintained and that the expected service delivery is met.
  • Assisting in the annual review of international medical schemes and global relocation providers.
  • Liaising with overseas offices, the Rewards team, and HR to collate relevant data for the annual salary reviews.
  • Managing the life cycle of Trainee international seat moves.
  • Staying on top of specific issues and trends in global mobility and sharing knowledge within the team.
  • Preparing and circulating monthly secondee statistics for dashboards, budgets, finance, and reporting purposes.


Qualifications

Your experience 

Skills

  • You will be proficient in using Microsoft Suite products with a strong emphasis on Excel, including the ability to create and utilise complex formulas for data analysis and reporting.
  • You will have strong analytical and organisational skills with a pro-active approach and excellent attention to detail.
  • You will have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with people at all levels.
  • You will have flexible and effective communication skills, coupled with the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.


Experience

  • You will have solid mobility related and HR experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Experience of working in a matrixed/global environment is desirable.


Knowledge

  • You will have thorough working knowledge of tax and immigration status implications of international mobility.
  • You will have knowledge of relocation trends and best practices.
  • You will be proficient in tools and formulas needed for creating and drafting the technical and logistical aspects of international assignments.

This role follows our 'balanced' hybrid working approach and as long as business needs allow, you will be supported to work in a hybrid way with the expectation of working from the office for a minimum of 50% of your time.
