About the role
Our Purpose in Global Employee Relations is an exciting one, from building and maintaining global policies and providing advice and support to our HR community, to facilitating our Speak Up process in people cases and Diageo’s Human Rights oversight. We’re accountable for our Occupational & Public Health and Wellbeing.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading or supporting the conduct of complex HR investigations across Diageo globally where investigations outside of markets are required.
- Providing leadership in case management, including advising on and undertaking complex and senior HR investigations or disciplinary processes, and supporting any employment related litigation with the Employment Legal Team.
- Analysing and reporting on available data to support our markets with proactive interventions, anticipating and mitigating risk.
- Subject matter expertise in Global Human Rights for People matters, collaborating with the cross functional team who lead on Human Rights matters and reporting.
- Developing market leading HR policies, processes and templates, maximising both internal and external best practice.
- Building employee relations capability within the Human Resources and business leadership teams relating to investigations and employee relations practices.
You will need:
- Strong analytical, communication, rapport building, and influencing skills; be organised and deadline driven; and be able to maintain high levels of confidentiality at all times.
- To be able to work autonomously, be self-directed and able to own and run an investigation to a high quality, end to end, within specified timeframes including interviewing witnesses, drafting investigations report and provide recommendations to the business on resolution of escalated ER cases.
- To be able to multi-task and conduct multiple investigations simultaneously.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, proactively challenging thinking based on your knowledge of ER strategy and trends, including through influencing senior stakeholders.
- Collaboration and relationship management skills to be a trusted advisor to all levels of the business in providing experienced advice on employee relations, policy and compliance matters, including providing coaching, training and guidance to the broader Human Resources team.
Experience required, skills or capabilities:
- Extensive experience in an employee relations role, or as a human resources professional with an employee relations speciality, or as an employment lawyer in a corporate environment.
- Demonstrable track record in conducting workplace investigations to a high standard investigation in a global or multi-jurisdictional environment.
- Have strong plain English drafting skills.
- Have a flexible approach to hours to accommodate international time zones.
- Excellent relationship management and communication skills with an ability to influence and form trusted relationships with executives, senior leaders, managers and employees at all levels.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excel skills to a proficiency level of being able to handle large datasets, use advanced formulas and utilise Excel to efficiently analyse and present data.
- PowerPoint skills to be able to concisely present ideas and data to varied audiences.
- Some exposure to or understanding of Human Rights would be ideal, but if not, you should have examples of situations where you have had to quickly learn, understand and implement solutions to legal frameworks.
