Your role and responsibilities

We are hiring a Global Business Line Manager for our Instrumentation business, part of our Measurement & Analytics Division. This role is open globally, and preferred locations are set close to our main Instrumentation locations in Europe, e.g. Germany and Italy.

As Global Business Line Manager, Instrumentation, you will hold end-to-end accountability for the strategically critical product portfolio spanning Instruments & Sensors, Actuators & Positioners

Electromagnetic Flow, Field Instrumentation Devices, Process Flowmeters and Flow Computers.

This is a leadership role with responsibility for shaping the future of the business within the division, advancing commercial excellence, and delivering sustainable, profitable growth across global markets.

Reporting directly to the Division President, you will lead a geographically diverse organization and set the strategic direction for the end-to-end Instrumentation business.

You will steer the full value chain, from the performance and direction of the factories and embedded capabilities such as R&D, Engineering, and Product Management to commercial execution, while accelerating growth, strengthening customer relevance and building long-term competitive advantage globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own full P&L accountability for the Global Instrumentation business line, driving sustainable growth, profitability, and cash performance.

  • Lead the strategic evolution and scaling of a competitive product portfolio, strengthening value propositions and market positioning across target segments.

  • Define and execute global go-to-market strategies that expand market share, reinforce pricing discipline, and deepen customer intimacy across segments and regions.

  • Establish and drive performance targets that promote a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across the organization.

  • Champion high-impact marketing, sales, and customer engagement strategies that elevate market presence and accelerate growth.

  • Strengthen relationships with key customers and OEMs, positioning ABB as the partner of choice for measurement, monitoring, and analytics solutions.

  • Ensure best-in-class operational performance across manufacturing, supply chain, quality, delivery, and HSE, aligned with ABB's standards and business ambitions.

  • Build and develop high-performing, values-driven teams through coaching, talent development, and robust succession planning.

You will be mainly accountable for:

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Proven success leading global business lines or holding significant P&L responsibility within industrial, process automation, analytics, or comparable sectors.

  • Strong strategic and commercial acumen, with a demonstrated ability to scale complex product portfolios and translate strategy into measurable business results.

  • Experience leading multi-product, technology-driven businesses with a manufacturing footprint and end-to-end operational accountability.

  • Strong understanding of customer ecosystems across multiple industries, with the ability to anticipate market shifts and shape competitive positioning.

  • Proven leadership of large, cross-regional organizations, with the ability to align diverse teams around a shared vision and performance agenda.

  • Track record of delivering results in fast-paced environments with complex operational structures, balancing speed, rigor, and execution excellence.

  • Proven experience delivering transformation programs, including manufacturing footprint optimization, back-office efficiency, product cost reduction, and growth in targeted segments and geographies.

  • Experience in M&A and integration, ideally with direct leadership in integration programs and delivery of targeted value creation.

  • High personal integrity and a strong commitment to ABB's values, ethics, and compliance standards, serving as a role model for principled leadership.

  • Skilled in leading change and transformation, while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and organizational resilience.

  • Adept at stakeholder management, with strong communication and influencing skills at executive, board, and cross-functional leadership levels.

  • Passion for people, customers, quality, and technology, with a leadership mindset grounded in impact and long-term value creation.

  • Ability to develop people and lead with clarity, purpose, and consistency. ​
