Location: Peterborough

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time Hours

42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

About the Role

We are looking for a hardworking and reliable General Operative to join our team, preparing vacant properties to a high standard ready for new residents. Working across a range of residential properties, you will carry out deep cleaning activities, ensure properties meet lettable standards, and support the organisation in providing safe, clean, and welcoming homes.

This is a varied role that involves travelling between properties, working both independently and as part of a team, and always maintaining excellent quality standards.

Duties:

  • Carry out deep cleans of vacant houses, flats, and maisonettes.
  • Clean and sanitise kitchens, including cupboards, worktops, sinks, tiles, and appliances where applicable.
  • Deep clean bathrooms and toilets, including descaling, disinfecting, and removing mould and limescale.
  • Wash down walls, doors, skirting boards, and other internal surfaces as required.
  • Clean internal windows, frames, and windowsills.
  • Vacuum, mop, and treat a variety of flooring types.
  • Remove cobwebs, dust, and debris from properties and communal areas.
  • Remove and dispose of minor waste in line with company procedures.
  • Complete final quality inspections to ensure properties meet lettable standards.
  • Report any maintenance issues, damages, or repair requirements to the supervisor.
  • Capture before and after photographs where required.
  • Safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with COSHH and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Load, unload, and maintain cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure company vehicles and equipment are clean, organised, and well-stocked.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to complete properties within agreed timescales.

Key Criteria:

  • Previous experience in domestic, commercial, void, or deep cleaning environments.
  • Good understanding of hygiene standards and safe cleaning practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering quality work.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional in your approach.
  • Flexible to travel between multiple locations and adapt to changing workloads.
  • UK Full Driving licence.

To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21 have held your licence over 3 months and have less than 9 points.
