Gas Engineering Supervisor — Mobile, London

JLL | Workplace Management

You've got the skills, the tickets, and years of commercial gas experience under your belt. But you're still just another engineer on the rota, watching opportunities go to people with less ability but better timing.

What if you could actually lead? Not just boss people around, but genuinely develop a team, influence standards across landmark sites, and get recognized for the expertise you've spent years building.

We're looking for a Gas Engineering Supervisor who's ready to step up — not into a made-up title with no real authority, but into genuine leadership on some of London's most prestigious commercial properties.

Why this role is different

Real leadership, not just a fancy title
You'll lead, mentor, and develop a team of gas engineers across multiple high-profile sites. Actual authority to make decisions, set standards, and shape how gas engineering is delivered across the portfolio.

Work that challenges you
Landmark commercial properties with complex plant rooms, sophisticated BMS systems, and heating installations that require proper expertise. Not domestic boiler swaps or the same breakdowns on repeat.

Career progression that exists
Clear pathways to senior supervisor, contracts manager, and regional leadership roles. JLL promotes from within because we'd rather develop talent than parachute in outsiders who don't know the operation.

Development investment you'll use
Structured training programs, technical upskilling, and leadership development. Access to industry experts, modern FM practices, and the kind of professional development that actually advances your career.

A team that backs you
Part of JLL's engineering community with technical support, peer collaboration, and a culture where asking questions makes you smart, not weak. You're leading a team, but you're not doing it alone.

The stability of a global leader
FTSE 250 company with blue-chip clients and long-term contracts. You get the security and resources of a major organization with the autonomy to run your operation properly.

The complete package

Core compensation:

  • Competitive salary reflecting your experience and leadership responsibility
  • Company vehicle for mobile operations
  • Full kit: laptop, tablet, phone, and parking card
  • Realistic scope for progression and salary growth

Professional development:

  • Structured training and leadership programs
  • Technical certifications and upskilling opportunities
  • Mentorship from senior engineering leaders
  • Career pathways within JLL's global network

Security & benefits:

  • Comprehensive pension scheme
  • Healthcare options
  • Life assurance
  • Employee wellbeing support

Work-life balance:

  • Planned schedules with emergency response rota
  • Professional working environment
  • Recognition for leadership, not just hours logged

What you'll be doing

Leading your team: You'll oversee a team of gas engineers and technicians across multiple London sites, providing technical mentorship, conducting safety briefings, and driving excellence in everything from diagnostics to customer service. You're building capability, not just managing schedules.

Technical excellence: Hands-on advanced diagnostics, complex repairs, and installations on commercial heating systems, boilers, and plant room equipment. You'll ensure 100% compliance with Gas Safety Regulations, oversee inspections and certification, and manage compliance tracking through SharePoint systems.

Stakeholder management: Building strong relationships with clients, building managers, and specialist contractors. You'll coordinate maintenance to minimize disruption, attend monthly Gas forums, and represent engineering excellence at every level.

Emergency leadership: Taking control when it matters most. Leading rapid response teams during emergency gas situations, making critical decisions under pressure, and ensuring safe, effective resolution every time.

Auditing and improvement: Conducting technical audits, investigating incidents, and implementing lessons learned. You're not just maintaining standards — you're raising them.

This isn't supervision from behind a desk. You're leading from the front on complex commercial systems where your decisions directly impact building performance and occupier experience.

What we need from you

Essential qualifications:

  • Gas Safe registered with full commercial and domestic tickets (CCN1, CPA1, CENWAT, COCN1, CODNCO1, ICPN1, CORT1, CDGA1, CIGA1, TPCP1A)
  • Minimum 5 years' commercial gas engineering experience
  • Proven track record leading or mentoring engineers
  • Full UK driving licence

Technical expertise:

  • Deep knowledge of commercial plant rooms, boilers, and heating systems
  • Confident with compliance requirements, audits, and technical documentation
  • Experience with complex diagnostics and problem-solving
  • Understanding of modern BMS and control systems

Leadership capability:

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to motivate teams and develop talent
  • Calm under pressure with strong decision-making ability
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement

The JLL difference: We're not just looking for someone who can do the job. We want someone who's ready to grow beyond it — someone who sees this as the beginning of a leadership career in facilities management, not the ceiling.
