About the Role
As a Cloud Engineer on the Cloud Services team, you will be supporting the creation/communication of our cloud best practices across all product teams at Morningstar. The responsibility of the role is to support the cloud platform roadmap. This includes engineering new technologies, validating solutions via POCs, and automating cloud workloads.
Job Responsibilities
- Work with technology teams to develop/deploy target state cloud architecture
- Contribute to cloud/technology discussions and decisions with other teams within the organization
- Execute POCs and feasibility studies to validate next-gen product concepts and technologies leveraging results to guide business and technology decisions
- Enforce adherence to architectural standards/principles, global product-specific guidelines, usability design standards, governance, cost controls, etc.
- Contribute to technical designs to consensus and approval
- Keep abreast of and gain expertise in the evolving technology and understand how new technologies could be applied
Qualifications
- Bachelor (undergraduate) degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Software Engineer, Security, or others) OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 2-3 years of experience supporting mission-critical infrastructure services at a large organization
- Strong foundational knowledge across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud technology stack
- Experience implementing Azure, AWS, and/or GCP
- Experience with Windows and Linux platforms
- Experience with creating/updating/maintaining Terraform templates for IaC
- Ability to write technical documentation (platform architecture, strategy, engineering etc.)
- Strong debugging and critical thinking skills.
- Solid communication and documentation skills.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with CI/CD - deployment pipelines and automated build and configuration tools such as Harness, Cloudbees, and Terraform
- Experience with Azure Networking (VWANs, Express Routes, etc.)
- Experience with in Azure AD RBAC Security models
- Experience with Azure Functions
