The Role:
We're looking for a Front End Web Developer to join our Web Team, developing and maintaining scalable websites and software using best practices. This role supports the wider Marketing division's plans, an integral part in meeting company-wide objectives.
We operate from a flexible hybrid model, that supports a healthy work-life balance. For this role, we're looking for candidates who live close to our Cambridge office.
Your Work at Redgate Software:

  • Write clean, standards-compliant, semantic HTML and progressive and responsive CSS to deliver a superb user experience across Redgate's websites.
  • Design and implement modular JavaScript solutions (using the React and Next.JS libraries) to extend and maintain the front end and interactivity of Redgate's various websites.
  • Maintain and structure the shape of website content using the WordPress Content Management System (CMS), to improve users ' ability to quickly and easily update content across Re d g ate's various websites.
  • Manage day-to-day changes to the Redgate .com , SimpleTalk , SQL Server Central, and PASS Data Community Summit websites (among others), including updates to copy and images, building new pages and functionality, and integrating third-party software.
  • Design, develop and consume Restful API's to pull and push data to and from internal and external data providers.
  • Maintain and improve the internal component library (HTML/CSS and ReactJS) used to provide brand consistency across the various Redgate websites.
  • Test Redgate's websites across a full range of browsers and devices, resolving any issues.
  • Work with other web developers and designers to help drive continual improvements to Redgate's websites, in terms of branding and consistency, functionality, and SEO performance.
  • Perform such other tasks as are consistent with the general description and in support of the Brand management.


What You Bring to the Table:

  • Expert in hand-coding clean, standards-compliant, semantic HTML and progressive and responsive CSS.
  • Expert in designing and developing modular JavaScript solutions.
  • A keen eye for detail, a sensibility to usability issues, and experience integrating with third-party API's and providers.
  • First class communication and collaboration skills, with the confidence to communicate with people at all levels both inside and outside of Redgate.
  • Organised, with the ability to prioritise, and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to learn new technologies as required by changing site requirements.
  • Expert in cross-browser inconsistencies and debugging.
  • A proactive team player.


What would help:

  • Experience working with the React JS and Next . JS UI frameworks and libraries.
  • Experience of additional web technologies and languages.
  • Experience managing content with the WordPress Content Management System (CMS).
  • Experience creating user documentation and training staff.
  • Experience working in small and large multi-functional teams.
  • Experience scoping and developing web-based projects and solutions.
  • Experience working with component UI libraries/frameworks (such as Tailwind CSS).
  • Experience working with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery systems (such as TeamCity and Octopus Deploy).
  • Experience with version control (Git and GitHub).
  • Experience working in an agile development environment.


Salary:

  • Base: £45,000 - £50,000
