Role overview   

The role sits at the heart of our Telematics pricing team where you will be responsible for leading a team of risk analysts  in order to deliver profit and growth targets through adjustments to our Telematics footprint (i.e. who in the market we offer a price to).

Accountabilities  

  • Identify and lead on opportunities to expand our competitive footprint or to rectify unprofitable segments.

  • Develop & deliver new innovative approaches to manage and control  the underwriting risk associated with expanding into new footprint segments.

  • Analyse risk using loss ratios and supporting KPIs, turning performance insights into clear recommendations that shape portfolio decisions.

  • Leverage strong stakeholder engagement to help shape the strategic pathways for growth.

  • Lead and support a team of risk analysts through peer reviews, coaching and mentoring.

  • Ensure that you are meeting customers’ fair and reasonable expectations and provide fair outcomes. Question and challenge peers and managers where processes and procedures do not meet these expectations and any activity that does not place customers’ interests at the heart of how we do business.

 Essential skills/experience:  

  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of what makes a successful and profitable business  

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills  

  • Advanced programming language skill (This could be R, Phyton, SQL, Radar or any other coding-based language 

  • Pro-active approach to driving change

  • Ability to think strategically about long-term goals and balance short-term objective 

  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management   

  • Confidence to express opinions / challenge

  • Pricing/analytics experience in the financial services sector

  • Knowledge of insurance market & competitors

  • Good understanding of underwriting principles
