Job Description

The FP&A Manager roles is a key member of the Operational Finance team, supporting the Finance Director and Financial Controller to deliver financial planning, reporting and governance activities for Managed pubs and to ensure financial controls are operating effecitively.

Qualifications

Your role as a Finance Manager

Governance and control

  • Support the Financial Controller in the management of Managed balance sheets ensuring high levels of governance and controls and liaising with the Centre of Excellence on key risks and opportunities and reporting appropriately, ensuring there are no surprises
  • Actively participate in Balance sheet calls and supporting Balance Sheet pack preparation
  • Balance Sheet (working capital) budget & forecast – responsible for oversight and reviewing Working capital forecasting and working with FCoE on variance reporting
  • Cash flow forecasting and variance reporting

Insight & Reporting

  • Take ownership of weekly performance reporting adding commentary and insight following review of the week’s trading and highlighting areas of risk and opportunity and suggested actions
  • Own the period-end reporting and work alongside the Centre of Excellence to ensure there are no surprises in the pub P&Ls, includes:
    • Coordination and preparation of the Ops Board Pack, providing insight & explanation of the monthly results pack, identifying actions to be taken to deliver financial targets
    • Analyse the monthly financial results and monitor adherence to budgets & forecasts
    • Issuance of Flash P&L and ownership of Divisional accruals
  • Take lead on Risks & Opportunities – both Balance Sheet and P&L – tracking and reporting
  • Provide rigorous review of proposed Dartboard and other KPI targets and report performance against these highlighting areas of risk and opportunity
  • Support the cost centre management of the Operations teams
  • Carry out ad hoc analysis as required and deep dives into P&L lines
  • Tracking of signed off investments schemes vs Budget, reporting on any variances as well as supporting with budget and reforecast of in year investments
  • Financial planning
  • Support on the Financial Planning for Managed Ops, including Strat Plan, budgets and re-forecasts, working alongside Centre of Excellence and Group Finance
  • Take responsibility for delivery of pub budgets and KPIs

Developing Self and Others

  • Form and build relationships across finance including Centre of Excellence and Group Finance
  • Lead continuous improvements in financial processes and controls

What you’ll bring… 

  • Qualified accountant (preferable), with experience of working in a multi-site business
  • Experience of period-end close, reviews and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Expert user in Excel and Cognos would be beneficial
  • Prioritisation and time management skills, able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Naturally enquiring mind with the ability to provide clear, concise analysis and recommendations
  • Proactive, “can-do” attitude able to see tasks and projects through to completion and full implementation
  • Able to form and develop relationships across the wider Greene King business
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, able to explain and present financial data in simple ways
  • Ability to flex with changing priorities
