Capital Com UK Limited (CCUK) is an FCA (MIFIDPRU) investment firm that operates a UK CFD and spread betting platform. The UK Finance function is organised around six pillars — Financial Control & Reporting, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Regulatory Capital, and CASS — and this role owns the first four of those pillars day-to-day, while supporting the Finance Director across Regulatory Capital and governance.

The Finance Manager role was created to address two needs simultaneously: to add senior-level capacity at a moment when the UK Finance team is supporting a concentrated programme of strategic projects and to raise the maturity of the control environment in preparation for an increasingly rigorous external audit cycle. You will be the Finance Director's deputy — covering Board, ExCo, and governance forums when required — and will have one direct report (Management Accountant). You will also play a leading role in embedding AI and automation into Finance's operating model, reducing time spent on routine processing and creating space for higher-value analytical work.

Responsibilities

    Financial Control & Reporting

Own the month-end close process end-to-end: review journals, sign off balance sheet schedules, manage accruals and prepayments, and oversee AP and expense processing carried out by the group's shared services function on CCUK's behalf.

Prepare first-draft management accounts and produce the Monthly Director's Analysis (MDA) pack, including P&L actuals vs budget, variance commentary, and commercial KPI narrative.

Prepare annual statutory financial statements for CCUK under IFRS and act as the primary Finance contact for the external statutory auditor throughout the year-end process.

Design and document the CCUK financial controls framework: process narratives, control matrices, and risk-and-controls documentation aligned to Big Four audit standards. This should be aligned with the Finance Risk and Controls Self Assessment (RCSA).

    Tax

Own UK corporation tax compliance: prepare quarterly provisions, coordinate with external advisers on the CT600 return, and manage tax considerations arising from new product lines (Stockbroking, Cards).

Manage quarterly VAT returns, including the partial exemption calculation that arises from CCUK's mix of VAT-exempt CFD/spread betting income and taxable supplies.

Maintain transfer pricing documentation for intercompany service charges received and work with the Tax team to ensure this is kept up to date.

    Treasury

Oversee CCUK's treasury function: maintain daily cash positioning across banks, PSP, and EMI accounts in Kyriba, ensure daily reconciliations are completed and reported on time, manage banking counterparty relationships, and ensure FX exposure is monitored and hedged via the group's intercompany hedging structure.

Ensure client money segregation remains compliant with CASS 7 at all times, working closely with the dedicated CASS team on treasury-related aspects of the daily CASS checklist.

    Regulatory Capital & Governance

Support FCA regulatory reporting: contribute to quarterly RegData submissions (capital adequacy, liquidity, P&L, balance sheet) and ICARA documentation, with a view to taking greater ownership of these processes over time.

Act as Finance Director cover: represent CCUK Finance at Board, ExCo and ARCC Committee meetings when required, and step in across any part of the Finance function in the FD's absence.

    People & Automation

Manage and develop one direct report (Management Accountant): set clear objectives, conduct regular 1:1s, and build the team's capability in financial controls and analytical output.

Champion AI and automation within Finance: identify and implement opportunities to streamline routine tasks — reconciliations, report generation, regulatory return preparation — using tools including n8n, Claude AI, and Python scripting.

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with post-qualification experience at an FCA-authorised firm — investment management, stockbroking, spread betting, banking, or fintech.

  • Strong IFRS technical knowledge and the ability to prepare statutory financial statements, develop accounting policies, work through complex accounting treatments, and document conclusions clearly for audit purposes.

  • Practical FCA regulatory reporting experience: ICARA, RegData submissions, and a working knowledge of the UK Investment Firms Prudential Regime (UK IFR / MIFIDPRU), including capital adequacy and liquidity monitoring.

  • Working knowledge of CASS 7 (client money segregation) and the obligations it places on an FCA (MIFIDPRU) investment firm.

  • Hands-on FP&A capability: financial modelling, annual budget and rolling reforecast management, variance analysis, and the ability to produce clear management narrative for Board-level audiences.

  • UK tax experience covering corporation tax, VAT (including partial exemption), and transfer pricing — with a track record of coordinating with external advisers and owning the compliance calendar.

  • Treasury experience in a multi-bank, multi-currency environment; familiarity with a treasury management system (Kyriba or equivalent) and with PSP/EMI counterparty management is a strong advantage.

  • Proficiency in NetSuite (or a comparable ERP), Google Sheets or Excel at an advanced level, and at least one BI or reporting tool (Tableau, Power BI, or similar).

  • Self-starter with the judgement and communication skills to represent Finance at Board, ExCo, and regulatory forums when required.

    Nice to Have

  • Direct experience with ICARA preparation and FCA RegData filings, including K-factor calculations under the UK IFR.

  • Exposure to stockbroking, custody, or investment product launches from a finance or regulatory perspective.

  • Hands-on use of workflow automation tools (n8n, Python, or similar) to build finance processes or reduce manual reporting.

  • Experience managing or mentoring finance team members.

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted financial analysis, automated report generation, or similar tooling.
