Your Role:

Acting as Finance Business Partner for our Outward Reinsurance team you will support the production, and provide oversight, of the premium forecasting and reporting for the Apollo managed syndicates.

Partnering the Reinsurance Team, you will gain an excellent understanding of the reinsurance programme and use your knowledge to quantify the impact on the accounting. You will be integral to the business planning and forecasting process and will enable stakeholders to understand the accounting consequences of decisions and actions.

You will work with Data, Reinsurance and Actuarial teams to improve and automate processes.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and operationalize an auditable process for the production for quarterly policy level accounting estimates for outwards reinsurance premium written and earned. The process includes related premium deductions and allocation to year of account.
  • Partner with the Reinsurance Team to estimate ultimate reinsurance premiums and deductions.
  • Partner with the Reinsurance and FP&A Teams to provide reinsurance inputs into the business planning process.
  • Production of reinsurance premium load files of the Tandem Finance data warehouse.
  • Partner with the Reinsurance and Data teams to build a reinsurance payable report by reinsurer and year of account.
  • Forecast the Reinsurance premium payments for liquidity and provide oversight of direct reinsurance payments.
  • Documentation of related accounting methodologies for reinsurance, including technical papers and support of the external audit process.

What we are looking for:

  • Excellent knowledge of insurance and reinsurance accounting principles including premium recognition for differing reinsurance policy types and treatment of deductions.
  • Data analytics skills and understanding of modern data processing technologies such as data lake, data warehouse, reporting and visualisation tools.
  • Qualified, ACA, ACCA or equivalent
  • Deadline focused with good organisational and time management skills.
  • Comfortable communicating with senior stakeholders
  • Conscientious, with a positive work ethic and an enquiring mind
