Purpose of the role

We’re looking for a driven and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our Finance team at Zego. This role is a great opportunity for someone at the early stages of their finance career who’s eager to build strong foundations in financial operations.

As a Finance Assistant, you’ll play a key role in ensuring accuracy and consistency across our financial records. You’ll support daily and monthly reconciliation activities across multiple bank accounts and currencies, take ownership of the accounts payable function, and manage the non-insurance accounts receivable process.

This position offers hands-on exposure to core finance operations and the chance to develop a deep understanding of how a fast-paced business operates. As you grow in the role, you’ll have the opportunity to take on broader responsibilities and progress your career within the team.

What you will be doing

  • Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations across multiple operational and client money accounts in various currencies.
  • Perform weekly claims banking reconciliations and post into Netsuite. 
  • Support the Finance team during month-end close, including preparing account reconciliations and resolving outstanding queries.
  • Prepare weekly payment runs for invoicing.
  • Prepare fortnightly expenses payment runs.
  • Prepare and set up various internal and external payments in the banking portals.
  • Create weekly & monthly financial reports for AP & AR functions.
  • Resolve queries relating to AP & AR in a timely manner.
  • Support the wider finance team with ad-hoc tasks, data entry, and process improvement initiatives.

What you will need to be successful

  • You’ll come from a finance or accounts administrator role.
  • You’re comfortable with Excel and ideally familiar with cloud-based finance systems (experience with NetSuite is a plus).
  • You’ll show strong attention to detail and a methodical, organised approach to work.
  • You’ll have the ability to work well independently and collaborate across teams when resolving queries.
  • A proactive mindset and eagerness to learn and grow within a fast-paced environment is a must to be successful at Zego.
  • You’re passionate about technology and have a keen interest in AI and automation. 
  • Ideally you’ll have experience in working in a startup environment. 
  • Bonus: Currently studying AAT Level 2 or above
