In a world of immense uncertainty, digiLab is a pioneering AI company that empowers governments and organisations in safety-critical or highly regulated industries to solve critical, complex, and high-stakes challenges using machine learning and uncertainty quantification.

From forging a path to clean energy to life-saving medical diagnostics and beyond, making critical decisions with unwavering confidence is difficult, especially when data is complex, sparse, or incomplete. This is where digiLab’s expertise shines through.

Our trustworthy and explainable AI platform, The Uncertainty Engine, supported by our team of machine learning specialists and data scientists, enables decision-makers to accelerate innovation, reduce the risk of failure, turn insight into action, and deliver greater value through more informed and confident decisions.

Summary:

The role of Executive Assistant (EA) to members of the Executive team is designed to support the Chief Growth Officer and Director of Product at digiLab . This full-time position reports to the Chief of Staff.

This is not a traditional Executive Assistant role.

This is a high-trust, high-responsibility position at the nerve centre of a fast-growing AI company with global ambitions. As digiLab scales, the impact and focus of our executives must scale exponentially. This role exists to make that happen.

You will operate close to decision-making, protecting executive focus by owning time, information, communication, and operational flow as one coherent system. You will anticipate what’s coming, remove friction early, and turn strategic intent into consistent, high-quality execution.

Although we are a 4-day week company (working days Monday - Thursday), at times, the nature of this role may require availability outside of these hours to respond to communications and requests.  The ability and willingness to do so are a key aspect of the position.

This is a demanding role by design. It is not about instruction-taking. It is for someone who thrives on responsibility, autonomy, pace, and raising the bar.

The Role:

As an Executive Assistant at digiLab, you will operate in a busy, varied, and high-impact role, providing senior-level partnership that enables executives to focus on the highest-value growth activities, combining strong traditional EA capability with proactive judgement, initiative, and the ability to bring clarity to complexity, structure to growth, and momentum to execution—anticipating needs often before they are articulated.

Areas of Responsibility

Be a mature, confidential, and strategic partner to our executive(s):

  • Act as a true gatekeeper of time, energy, and focus — prioritising effectively to maximise impact
  • Own and optimise executive calendars, communications, and information flow
  • Translate ideas and strategy into clear actions, ensuring follow-through without requiring oversight
  • Anticipate risks, identify friction early, and proactively solve problems
  • Provide calm stability during periods of growth, change, and transition
  • Create structure without introducing unnecessary bureaucracy — enabling agile scaling
  • Support decision-making by ensuring the right information is surfaced at the right time

Stakeholder & Business Impact

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders (clients, partners, investors, suppliers)
  • Maintain a highly professional, welcoming presence on behalf of the executive team
  • In collaboration with marketing colleagues, support the development and management of brand digiLab, being a Brand Ambassador for the company both internally and externally.
  • Play a key role in maintaining strong cross-team communication and cohesion

digiLab Culture :

Our culture is one of our most prized assets, and a core part of our identity as a business.  An important part of your role as EA will be to:

  • Understand and reflect digiLab’s culture, both internally and to external stakeholders (clients, investors etc)
  • Play a key role in ensuring the digiCulture is sustained as we grow across industries and locations

Duties may evolve, and you may be asked to take on other reasonable responsibilities within your competence to support our growth.

Required Skills:

To thrive in our fast-moving, scaling AI start-up, you will need adaptability, resilience, sound judgement under pressure, genuine curiosity about the technology we build, and the ability to combine warmth with sharp professionalism in one of the organisation’s most visible roles.

Essential qualities for the role are:

  • Excellent time management, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
  • Proven experience in an Executive Assistant or similar role
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude
  • Ability to work independently and anticipate the needs of executives.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and work well as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic

In addition, some ‘nice to haves’ are:

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent

Location:

This role is based on-site at digiLab’s offices on the Quay, Exeter, though you may be required to travel at times to fulfil the role, as the executives you will be supporting may not all be located in Exeter.

Remote working is not possible for this role, as it requires close collaboration and liaison with the Executive team.

Our Culture and Values
At digiLab, we prioritise work-life balance with a 4-day workweek (Monday to Thursday), offering a full-time salary and three-day weekends every week! Our team is built on strong connections, with regular socials like game nights, bouldering, and paddleboarding.

We foster a culture of innovation, trust, and collaboration. Our values include:

  • Creativity & Agility: Encouraging innovation and flexibility in goal achievement.
  • Trust & Responsibility: Supporting each other in taking calculated risks for bold innovation.
  • Open & Honest Collaboration: Ensuring transparent communication and alignment.
  • High-Performance Standards: Continuously challenging ourselves to excel in delivery.
  • Value-Driven Work: Regularly assessing our contributions toward company goals.

Benefits:

We value enthusiasm and loyalty, and we’re committed to offering a great work-life balance. Along with the exciting challenges this role provides, we offer a range of benefits including:

  • 4-day working week
  • Competitive Salary
  • BUPA private health care (via salary sacrifice)
  • Company Cashplan
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Referral Program
  • Company Events
  • Discretionary EMI scheme (eligible to be considered after one year with the company; participation is not guaranteed and is entirely at the company's discretion.)

Equal Opportunities:

digiLab is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and are committed to ensuring our recruitment processes are fair, inclusive, and legally compliant. We take equality, dignity, and non-discrimination seriously.

Final Note:

We aim to respond to every applicant, but due to high application volumes, we may not be able to respond individually. Thank you for your interest in joining the digiLab team.  The information you provide will be stored and used in line with our Privacy Notice.
