The team provides risk analysis, governance, reporting, and challenge to support informed decision-making and ensure that risks are appropriately identified, measured, monitored, and escalated.

As the Equities business continues to expand, the team plays a key role in enhancing risk infrastructure, automation, analytics, and governance to support scalable and effective risk management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily risk coverage and oversight across a broad range of Equities businesses, including monitoring exposures, limits, concentrations, risk sensitivities, and key market moves.
  • Produce, review, and enhance risk reporting, analytics, dashboards, and management information for trading desks, senior management, Risk Management, and relevant governance forums.
  • Deliver independent challenge to trading desks by assessing risk positions, trading activity, portfolio changes, market developments, and emerging risks.
  • Support timely identification, investigation, escalation, and resolution of risk issues, limit breaches, data quality concerns, and control matters.
  • Contribute to ongoing enhancements to the market risk framework as the Equities business continues to grow and evolve.
  • Develop and support risk automation initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, data quality, analytical capability, and risk visibility.
  • Use coding and data analysis techniques, where appropriate, to streamline reporting, automate processes, investigate risk drivers, and improve management information.
  • Partner with Risk Technology and other stakeholders to enhance risk infrastructure, reporting processes, analytical tools, and data workflows.
  • Engage regularly with Trading, Risk Management, Risk Technology, Operations, Finance, and senior business stakeholders to support robust risk governance and timely escalation of issues where required.
  • Assist with ad hoc analysis, stress testing, scenario analysis, deep dives, and presentation materials for senior management and risk committees.
  • Maintain awareness of market developments, product changes, and business growth initiatives that may impact the Equities risk profile.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong academic background in a quantitative, finance, economics, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex risk data and communicate conclusions clearly.
  • Proactive, intellectually curious, and comfortable challenging existing processes to improve efficiency, risk transparency, and control.
  • Demonstrated interest in financial markets, risk management, and the Equities business.
  • High attention to detail and a strong control mindset, particularly in relation to data quality, risk reporting, and escalation processes.
  • Relevant experience in market risk, trading risk, product control, risk analytics, quantitative analysis, or another financial markets role preferred.
  • Coding experience or a strong understanding of programming concepts is highly desirable, particularly in relation to data analysis, automation, and process improvement.

Personal Attributes

  • Commercially aware, with a strong interest in markets and trading activity.
  • Independent thinker with sound judgement and the confidence to escalate concerns where appropriate.
  • Collaborative and able to build strong working relationships across front office and control functions.
  • Technically curious, with an interest in using coding, automation, and data-driven approaches to improve risk management processes.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of delivering accurate work under tight deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in an evolving business environment where processes, tools, and frameworks continue to develop.
