The Role

The Principal Consultant role is within the Infosys Consulting unit in the Financial Services vertical of Infosys. The Infosys Consulting unit focuses on partnering with senior business and technology stakeholders of our clients to help craft and execute their strategy.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of Financial Services experience and a strong track record in Enterprise Data Management (EDM). You will play a key role in shaping and implementing EDM capabilities, acting as both a strategic advisor and hands-on delivery lead.

You should possess solid domain expertise across reference data, market data, product/fund/legal entity data, and trade data, along with practical experience integrating EDM platforms into complex enterprise environments and navigating real-world delivery challenges.

The role requires leading teams, solving complex business problems, applying consulting methodologies, and collaborating across client and delivery teams to drive measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities: 
 
Project Execution 

  • Collaborate with client counterparts to define long-term vision, goals, and strategies. 
  • Contribute to the design and development of client future processes and organizations with corresponding transformation roadmaps. 
  • Conduct requirements workshops with a team of global IT professional & subject matter experts, translating those requirements into actionable project initiatives w/associated metrics. 
  • Solution targeted processes, leveraging best practices. 
  • Solution and document functional specifications. 
  • Define, execute, and support testing of the solution. 
    • Perform knowledge transfer to client and supporting organizations throughout all phases of the project.
    • Support management of project execution from start-to-finish to deliver according to plan (scope, quality, and time).
    • Coach and develop team members to deliver quality results and promote professional development.

People Development 

    • Mentor and coach team members through formal, performance evaluation methods and informal, individual feedback opportunities. 
    • Collaborate and share knowledge.

Practice Development 

  • Contribute to practice growth through recruitment, training, and retention. 
  • Provide insight and thought leadership to develop innovative assets, including differentiated points of view and methodologies.
  • Provide insights on new and emerging best practices across Capital Markets industry and contribute to the development of service offerings.
  • Prepare thought papers and participate in industry conferences and forums.
  • Build social networks that enable knowledge and information flow and stay abreast of developments in Capital markets and financial advisory expertise areas.

Role Expects You To:

  • Lead EDM engagements within Financial Services. Experience in Capital Markets and/or Commercial / Retail Banking preferred.
  • Function as a trusted advisor across strategy and implementation.
  • Drive integration of EDM with upstream and downstream systems.
  • Design and oversee data workflows across reference, market, product, and trade data domains.
  • Guide implementation of data integration and processing layers (batch and real-time).
  • Define and enforce data governance, stewardship, and lineage practices to ensure traceability, auditability, and compliance.
  • Drive performance tuning, system testing (unit → integration → UAT → parallel), and deployment to production environments ensuring operational readiness.
  • Mentor junior EDM consultants and contribute to implementation best practices, continuous improvement, and product roadmap feedback.
  • Collaborate with other streams including technology delivery streams across Infosys to deliver a compelling value proposition to the client.
  • Manage and minimize engagement risk by proactively identifying issues and recommended courses of remediation.
  • Build client relationships towards expanding the footprint within the client organization.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required, MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in Financial Services with at least 5 years of experience in delivering programs in Capital Markets domain.
  • Experience with a business consulting organization.
  • Demonstrated ability in defining, mobilizing, and delivering complex change programs in Capital markets (Investment Bank, Broker-Dealer, Wealth Management, Asset Management) or Banking (Commercial, Retail) preferred.
  • Robust domain knowledge across:
    • Reference data (securities, parties, pricing)
    • Market data and product/fund/master data workflows
    • Trade/position integration
  • Experience in integrating EDM with enterprise applications, including relational databases (SQL Server/Oracle), data warehouses, OMS/EMS, risk, and portfolio systems.
  • Strong technical skills: SQL, ETL/data modelling, stored procedures, data ingestion, messaging systems.
  • Excellent communication skills: capable of consulting with business stakeholders and translating business requirements into robust technical specifications.
  • Experience across full project lifecycle: requirements gathering, system design, configuration, testing, go live, training, and support.
  • Familiarity with EDM data governance, lineage, and audit processes; regulatory frameworks (e.g., Basel, MiFID, Dodd-Frank) a plus.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 80%, depending on client requirements.
