The Role

As an Enterprise Architect at Envitia, you will play a pivotal role in helping Central Government and Defence organisations tackle complex challenges and realise their strategic ambitions. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, you will shape enterprise-wide business and technology architectures that enable sustainable transformation and long-term success.

Combining strategic insight with a strong consulting mindset, you will define future-state visions, operating models, roadmaps, and target architectures that align technology investment to measurable business outcomes. You will work closely with clients to ensure architectural decisions are driven by organisational priorities and deliver genuine value.

Beyond architecture design, you will lead the adoption of new capabilities and ways of working, guiding stakeholders through change and ensuring solutions are successfully embedded. From early-stage strategy and advisory engagements through to delivery and transition, you will provide leadership, direction, and expertise across the entire client lifecycle.

This is an opportunity to influence critical programmes at the heart of Government and Defence, while helping to grow Envitia's consulting capability and reputation as a trusted transformation partner.

 Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of enterprise architecture strategies, ensuring business objectives, operating models, and technology investments remain aligned across complex client environments.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, providing strategic guidance on business, data, application, and technology architecture to address organisational challenges and enable transformation.
  • Define and establish enterprise architecture governance frameworks, ensuring consistency, compliance, and alignment with client standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practice.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise-wide roadmaps that guide clients from current-state challenges to future-state capabilities, delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Apply Target Operating Model (TOM) expertise to design scalable organisational structures, processes, and capabilities that support long-term business objectives and sustainable change.
  • Collaborate closely with client stakeholders, delivery teams, and subject matter experts to shape and implement innovative solutions that deliver tangible value and operational improvement.
  • Provide architectural leadership across transformation programmes, ensuring strategic objectives, architectural principles, and delivery activities remain aligned throughout the lifecycle.
  • Lead business change and capability adoption initiatives, helping clients realise the full value of new technologies, processes, and ways of working.
  • Support business development activities, including client engagement, proposal development, solution shaping, and thought leadership across the Defence and Government sectors.
  • Champion best practice in enterprise architecture, contributing to the growth of Envitia's consulting capability through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

Experience Required

  • Proven experience delivering Enterprise Architecture engagements within a consulting environment, leading complex client-facing projects from strategy through to implementation.
  • Strong consultancy background, with the ability to advise senior stakeholders on business transformation, organisational design, digital strategy, and technology-enabled change.
  • Demonstrable experience working with Central Government and/or Defence organisations, with a strong understanding of their governance structures, procurement frameworks, regulatory requirements, and operating environments.
  • Broad architecture expertise spanning business, data, application, technology, and security domains, with the ability to develop integrated enterprise-wide solutions.
  • Proven ability to engage, influence, and build trusted relationships with senior leaders, executives, and programme stakeholders, communicating complex concepts with clarity and credibility.
  • Experience defining enterprise strategies, target-state architectures, transformation roadmaps, and business capability models that support organisational objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks and methodologies, such as TOGAF, including their practical application within large-scale transformation programmes.
  • Experience designing and implementing Target Operating Models (TOMs), operating frameworks, and organisational capabilities to support sustainable business change.
  • Understanding of modern cloud and digital platforms, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, and their role within enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Proven experience establishing architecture governance, assurance frameworks, and decision-making processes that drive consistency, compliance, and effective portfolio management.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with experience supporting business development activities, shaping opportunities, developing proposals, and contributing to client growth.
  • A collaborative and consulting-focused mindset, combining strategic thinking, adaptability, and a passion for delivering measurable outcomes and lasting client value.
