We are launching a new logistics facility in Ostrava and are looking for an Engineering Manager who will take full ownership of the engineering system. This role is responsible for defining, stabilizing and continuously improving the overall operational concept and system architecture across processes, equipment, and standards. The Engineering Manager ensures that engineering decisions are made with long-term system performance in mind, balancing operational pressure, technical constraints, and business impact. The position acts as a key counterpart to Operations, with the authority to challenge, stop, or redesign processes when required to protect system stability, safety, and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Own and define the overall engineering concept across processes, equipment, layout and standards, ensuring long-term system stability and scalability.
- Take final technical decisions with impact on operations, cost and performance, including the authority to challenge, stop or redesign activities when required.
- Lead and develop the engineering team (Process & Packaging), ensuring clear priorities, accountability and quality of outputs.
- Define and enforce standard ways of working, including work standards based on engineering methods (e.g. time studies, best method definition).
- Drive system-level improvements by addressing root causes and eliminating structural weaknesses, not only local inefficiencies.
- Own technical evaluation of CAPEX investments and cooperation with suppliers, ensuring long-term sustainability of solutions.
OTHER (Include if applicable) - Act as the technical authority in situations with conflicting priorities (Operations, Customer, Engineering), ensuring decisions are made based on long-term system stability rather than short-term pressure.
- Take full accountability for engineering outcomes, including the ability to make and defend difficult decisions without relying on consensus or escalation.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Engineering or a related technical field is an advantage, not a prerequisite.
- Strong technical foundation with the ability to understand processes, equipment and system interactions in a complex logistics environment.
- Proven experience in engineering or engineering-related leadership roles within logistics, manufacturing or high-volume industrial environments.
- Experience in leading technical teams and taking responsibility for engineering outputs and decisions.
- Experience in environments with high operational pressure, where technical decisions directly impact performance, cost and safety.
- Experience in cross-functional cooperation (Operations, Quality, Customer), including situations with conflicting priorities.
- Experience in making and owning decisions with long-term operational impact.
- Good knowledge of MS Office products, especially Word, Excel, Power Point
- Excellent command in Czech and English languages
