The successful candidate will have proven expertise in building scalable, high-performance ETL pipelines for applications within the financial sector and will have experience in delivering through their own technical contributions as well as via the management of other technical resources.

We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will be balancing internal and external stakeholder management, requirements analysis, solutions design, and hands-on development within the Ab Initio stack.

You’ll be taking business requirements, assessing priorities, distilling technical and functional requirements, liaising with testing teams to develop testing strategies and plans, reviewing code, and walking through your team’s solutions in various forums (e.g. architectural review boards). You’ll also be working with production support and performance engineering teams to understand and cater for non-functional requirements.

In addition to the above, you’ll also be looking after the career development of a small number of engineers and supporting them both technically and pastorally and will be owning and nurturing relationships with multiple teams across the engineering estate.

About you

For this role, you will have/be:

  • Knowledge of building and optimising ETL workflows for high-volume, low-latency data streams using Ab Initio Continuous Graphs

  • Expertise in Ab Initio GDE, Continuous Flows, Batch Graphs, EME, Conduct IT, and Control Center

  • A track record of the integration of Ab Initio with other enterprise systems such as Kafka and cloud platforms (EKS)

  • Experience in the integration of APIs with external systems using REST/JSON/XML

  • Participated in code reviews, unit testing, and deployment activities

  • Implemented robust error handling and recovery strategies

  • Experienced in the management of technical resources, providing guidance, support, and mentorship with the ability to orchestrate effective task delegation, progression, and quality control

  • A history of distilling business problems/opportunities into technical tasks by using a proactive approach to discovery and refinement of requirements

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

  • Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind

  • Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand

  • Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development

  • Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
